Tonight Glenn Davis is commentating with Balboa. Is he new? I never heard him before and he's pretty good.

What happened to JP? Did he go back to calling Hockey?

Can they have both JP and Glenn Davis together? But I'm not sure if Glenn Davis would be good as a color guy.

JP and Ray Hudson would be a very interesting combination, except that Ray won't let JP talk too much.

JP was calling a Thrashers game vs. Montreal.

That is his main gig now that hockey is back.

Glenn Davis is not new. He does HDNet's games and used to do Burn games, I believe. He also used to do color on the old CISL's national package with Bill Land. He's good.

And yes, JP is back in hockey now with the overlap of seasons.

Why don't they just use Stone? Not that I have any issues with Davis, but it seems like Stone is already there.

I think Stone does college football sideline reporting, and considering college football is played almost every day of the week now, he may have been either doing a game, preparing for a game, or returning from a game. It may well be that Davis is ahead of Stone on the Nats' depth chart, I don't know.

Davis announced a game or two on ESPN last season and has before in prior seasons...also announces for HDNet and used to or still does for Dallas...

the US #2 announcer after JP in my opinion...

These days, it's rare when Stone gets the nod for a USA game. Like you said, he's also doing occasional college football games, and there's one tomorrow, so he might be flying there.

It looks like Glenn Davis is the backup for JP Dellacamera.

It looks like Rob Stone isn't in the picture, unless it's MLS games on ESPN2, or as a host/sideline guy for the All-Star game and MLS Cup.

This may be off topic somewhat, and/or already mentioned, but I saw Heather Mitts do some sideline reporting for a college football game this weekend. Don't remember what game she did, or if it was on ESPN, ESPN2 or even ESPNU.

I did not like Glenn Davis very much.

He basically hung onto the proverbial cajones of MLS and used the telecast as propoganda for Major League Soccer. Let's talk about the final day of WCQ, eh?

Yes, the constant MLS references were getting so annoying. Some of the American fans, like myself, don't follow MLS. Just call the game! Leave the adverts to the right of the score graphic/on the bottom line/when you say "this is segment is brought to you by (gravy, mmm northern boys love gravy)". It's almost painful to watch soccer on ESPN, can't wait for that World Cup..

If you want to give us the background of the players, why not do a pregame show for once.

I believe i've seen Beth Mowins and/or Wendy Gaubauer-Palladino (they both do USWNT on ESPN/2) be in the booth for an occasional Saturday noon college football game on the ESPN networks.

When ESPN does college football, it seems like an "all hands on deck" affair, because there's so many games to announce.

I've seen Heather Mitts sideline for more than one game on ESPN and ESPN2.

Well, she does date someone who played college football, so I suppose that makes her well qualified. :D

I personally had no problem with the broadcast. And the reason they announce those sponsor bugs is because that's likely part of the contract.
