I was sent an audio clip in MP2 format which I've never heard of before. It plays just fine thru my Windows Media Player (as an mpg, I guess), but I'd like to convert it to an MP3 so I can burn & play it like a cd. Can I do that?

It's actually a long "scoped" clip of a friend of mine on the air at a top-40 radio station New Years' Eve about 20 yrs ago, while hammered. He babbles about all kinds of crazy stuff, telling stories about his father's strange banking habits, his past as a singer for the Human League, and making drunken pleas to people to not drink and drive. All of this while playing the bad hits from back then ("Eye Of The Tiger", "Don't You Want Me", etc) and even in his altered state, he "hits the post" on every single song intro! Really funny stuff if you are a fan of radio DJ style.
Other mutual friends have traded this tape around on cassette for years, but this year is the first that anyone has gone digital with it. I'd be glad to email a copy to anyone who wants it.
Chachi--thanks for the tip. I'll try to convert it at home tonite.

That sounds like high-quality entertainment.
Slightly related: I've been thinking about volunteering for the Sat morning WFMU listener hour, but I'm not sure that I have enough Gregorian chants or fundamentalist Christian poetry (which is what's on at this moment) to make it interesting. I could go on for an hour and take soccer calls, I suppose...

Dude, just open the file on iTunes and choose "Convert Selection To MP3" from the "Advanced" menu.

I've been wanting to do this at an independent station up here for so long.

I guess that would be funny if I knew what iTunes is. What is it?

Heavy rumors being that the next version of iTunes will be compatible with MP4's, thus allowing out iPods to hold even more.
