If the Academy is working......shouldn't we expect more Young Gunners in the England Team?

Nice!

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Gunners11 again.

To make one point - most of our young gunners play on their countries youth teams, just not England.

The following are generally regular England U21/Youth players:

David Bentley, Justin Hoyte, Ryan Garry, Michael Jordan, Ryan Smith, Mitchell Murphy.
Maybe not as many as we have had in the past, but we have a good collection of youngsters from abroads as well.

When watching the U21 games, the commentators seem to have a standard comment about how many of the England players have regualr premiership experience. I can't quote facts and figures, but if Taylor can pick people who regularly play 1st team footie, rather than players who are in the reserves, he may well go down that route. We also have a much greater national base for our young players, Quincy/Lupoli etc. etc. who are figuring for their national youth sides.

Forgot that I left out Fabrice Muamba as well. He is from the DRC but came here as a refugee and now plays for one of the England Youth teams.

I wouldnt have started this thread (not quite a forum old chap) if when watching the recent U21 Internationals I noticed that there was a dearth of Arsenal players. Knowing that the academy is one of the top one or two strongest in the country there would appear to be an inconsistency. Thanks for sharing your well argued point though Gunners11.
