All the "classic 60s bands" did. Long, long ago. People should accept that rock stars like money as much as the rest of us.

I still cringe every time I see/hear that Hummer "Happy Jack" commercial.

Probably not as much as I cringe when I hear Blitzkreig Bop in Verizon commercials. :)

Sorry, I should've wrote "rock stars who manage to survive that whole drugs* thing like money." :(

*Yes, I realize Ian Curtis was taking prescription meds to control his epilepsy

Not to mention "Start Me Up," for Microsoft.

I don't get worked up about groups selling tunes, but I have to say a sigh did pass my lips when I saw the Jaguar ad using "London Calling." At least it was used for a pretty cool product.

Considering how tight they usually are with licensing, I was appalled when 'Rock and Roll' showed up on the Cadillac ads. With Gary Sinise doing the V.O.

"John Bonham for Certs!"

If only Highlander had never been cancelled.

As if you wouldn't take the money to have your song in a commercial . I think it is real funny when people who have never achieved the success and fame of the bands they love start to judge and say that they are selling out.

Nah, I think they liked money too because it helped them buy more drugs.

I had no idea the Stones were that strapped for cash.

all MAINSTREAM bands have sold out whether they be rock, pop, country, or/and especially rap. its sad that rap has become the new form of advertisment.

There are bands that haven't.

Anyway, the point of this thread isn't to say that Stones are 'sellouts', because we already knew that. It's more like 'hey, check out how bottom of the barrell they are now'.

And yea, the Stones are 'sellouts'. When you still try to put across the image of being 'anti-establishment' and 'dangerous' and 'bluesmen' (which they still do), then selling your music in the manner that they have does make them complete and utter phonies.

But like I said, we already knew this a long time ago.
