Is that somehow supposed to make me like him?!?

That extended commercial in no way makes his music good or make him any more likeable.

So should I be glad that video didn't load on my computer?

? I don't get why all of you guys have such a profound hatred for John Mayer.

as metrocorazon so precisely put it the last time there was a thread on him, "it's gey yuppie music."

Somebody else recently said "I heard him when he was Dave Matthews and I didn't like him then either."

It's not so much hatred for me, but sheer disbelief that some record exec decided he was worth spending precious record label dollars on.
I don't see anything he does particularly well that other artists haven't done before and better.

The ladies love him. That equals $$$.

Same theory explains the new Thicke album.

You mean like Alan Thicke?

Robin Thicke:

His single's all over the place now. My wife's got an advance of the album and loves it. I think its really mediocre R&B, but then again I don't think I'm who he made it for. It's even got a track in Spanish, ensuring maximum crossover.

John Mayer used to bang Jennifer Love Hewitt.

That earns respect (and utter disdain/jealousy) from me.

Whenever I think of John Mayer, I think of a particular Simpsons moment. Flanders asks his family what sort of ice milk they want, and Maude says "Unflavored for me!" with all the enthusiasm one could muster.

John Mayer fans are Maude. He could not be more bland.

Not sure of the validity of the story but a guy at work (yeah, I know, it's always the 'guy at work') said a friend of his got backstage at a Mayer concert cause John thought she was hot and told the bouncers to let her through. She wouldn't put out and as she was walking out she heard "At least give me something to jerk-off too!"

Haha, even if it's not true it's pretty funny. I hated Mayer long before I ever heard that though, so shame on you for tricking me into coming into this thread, I thought it was going to be something bad about him.:(

i have a friend obsessed with Mayer and I refuse to ride in the car with her because it's all she listens to. to me it's not that it's so bad, it's that it's so bland (which is bad i guess.) he sounds like a watered down, stripped down dave matthews minus the interesting violin & sax and the good drummer.

If it makes you feel better, I don't think she's ever banged anyone.

Are you kidding? Look at the name of her 1995 album:

that was me who said i didn't like him when he was dave matthews. i mean, c'mon he sounds just like him. i don't care if people like him though. hell everyone has some mediocre, crappy pop music that they like whether they admit it or not. i.e. i own a wallflowers album and i like it for its blandness
