...not sure if it my PS2 (5 yrs old) or the Fifa 06 game, but it keeps crashing which is really pissing me off, So I deleted my Tottenham manager role, and have not been able to get them again.

Dave I would say buy FIFA 06. Unless others have the same issue with the game crashing. It really is a fun game. Then again as I have mentioned before I was brought up on FIFA. When does Winning Eleven come out in the US?

i believe WE comes out in Jan or Feb.

i had to buy a new PS2 recently. Mine was about 5 years old and I would put games in and I would get a disc read error. I cleaned the thing a lot and it never worked. I think it was just too old.

05 and 06 are very similar, except 06 is more user friendly and a better simulation it is obviouly run on the same game engine. My other peeve is the fact that in earlier versions if you used Lazio you would be in the Stadio Olympico on 06 its a generic stadium, I think the developers could have done a better job with putting in more stadiums, and the crowd chanting could be better. They still have the fans singing "Glen Hoddles blue and white army" that is just lazy.

I gave up on WE...made me feel like an idiot. At the three-star level I just got my ass handed to me in almost every game...as the Arse no less! I never threw my controller so much for any game.

So now I just kill Nazi's on Medal of Honor...much more satisfying!!

here's my WE vs. Fifa rant.

FIFA has traditionally been absolute and utter crap in terms of game play but very fun to play against your friends w/ all the licenses.

WE has traditionally been the best in terms of game play, but lacking licenses.

06 is perhaps the best FIFA yet, no wonder, they added features that WE has had for years. Still though, I'm not very happy with FIFA, although its a step in the right direction, its not yet at the level of WE. They've made FK's more realistic but not quite perfect, they've made it so that u can't score 8 goals in a game and they've also improved the ball physics.

WE9 is really really great... they've added a few things game play wise, like curling shots, timing your volleys to get major dip, the elastico for applicable players and they've made the roulette usefull. They kept things like 2 ways to chip a keeper, near post crossing and the slide dribble, but they've added seemingly millions of animations and I love it.

What I hate most about 06 and traditionally all FIFA games is the horrid job they do on goals/keepers.

1. The keeper is god
1a. The striker is sh!t.

in most 1v1 situations the keeper will make a save unless the striker is not sprinting, this would be fine if exceptions were made for Ruud, Henry, Shevchenko, Ronaldo etc... but don't tell me these guys can't score at will when sprinting.

2. rebound goals... i don't know... in WE the rebounds happen, but not as often as in 06... what pisses me off is that once the keeper can't hold a shot the rebound seeks out the nearest attacking player... ie, shot from right, rebound up middle if striker is in middle, rebound to left if other striker is on left and rebound to basically anywhere the next striker is... what makes it worse is the inability to tackle that defenders suffer on rebounds I've conceeded a dozen rebound goals when the striker is sandwhiched by 2 defenders none of whom attempt a tackle despite my aching thumb.

WE is killing me w/ their refusal to get more rights to more leagues... thankgod for downloadable option files.

I love most things about WE but one special addition is how hard it is to advance the ball now... unless u've got stars, or are playing a really crappy team its a headache to even get forward (FIFA has improved this) yesterday I played a game w/ 58% poss. and had 4 shots at goal... the team bunkered and bunkered well. They closed down aggressively and I damn near lost my mind trying to work out how to break them down.

I like WE better than FIFA because its generally a better simulation and a more challenging game... it has its flaws but for me there's only 3 things I'd rather do than play WE.

oh... PS... I love that they've added new positions... WB and Support striker they've always had better formations and strategy than FIFA, but these two really complete it. I had to stop using a SS in some matches because the guy was dropping deeper than I had expected and I wanted to play w/ someone closer to my striker. Little tweaks are what WE is made of and I love it.

My origional PS2 ( a launch model also) gave up the ghost about a year ago with the same problems as you two are having. Disk read errors. Got a slimline one now.

However the PS3 will likely be Backwards compatible so I wouldnt worry about it TOO much eh. Wait till that comes and have one of them.

Yah the difficulty is a bit odd with PES (WE).

* = LOL 1,000,000 - 0
** = LOL 4-0
*** = Hard. Have to battle for 1-0 and 2-0 win (realistic though?)
**** = OMG 0-3
***** = FFS 0-10
****** = Sod that!

I skipped the most recent MoH game as it looks and feels a bit dated now. Better WW2 shooters out there.

If you like FPS games though you absolutly HAVE to try Killzone. Its the nuts!

Im inclinded to agree. Only ever fifa Ive owned before now is 02, and it only really got played multiplayer for non "serious" gaming mates who wanted to get involved - its a lot friendlier in that regard.

I'm finally not sucking in WE 8 on 5 stars. I've won games 3-0, and such with Lokomotiv, against teams like Barca. I love it.

WE > Golf >....> Feces > France > Fifa 2006 > Zani

I do battle at *** and can't beat friggin Blackburn! As soon as I score the AI storms down and pelts the box with crosses until I conceed a couple.

Better ww2 shooter? Talk to me. Is Killzone available in the US?

brothers in arms is kickas$ its not just a shooter though, some strategy (placement of troops) is involved and you probably couldn't beat most stages w/ out the help of your squad... i still like the game though... a very realistic feel to it.

Yeah. Graphics are pretty much pushing the PS2 to breaking point. Bit glitchy in some spots but overall its visually stunning.

Main thing though is the pace of it all. Movement is relatively slow compared to other games, and straffing is only mariganlly effective at making you harder to hit. But it all adds up to make it soooo much more tactical. If you go running in guns blazing trying to strafe out of 5 guys fire like Quake or Time Splitters or some such you will get your ass handed to you. You HAVE to take up good firing positions from cover.

$20 at amazon. So cheap too.

Yeah Brother in Arms is the squad based one - fire and flank baby :)

And you've got Call of Duty for your traditional fair.

Both are due sequals any day now so should be cheap as.

Then there is Battlefield 2. Havent played it yet but from the footage ive seen. Wow. Just wow.

Well, I'm cheap...I love used cars, used skiis, used tools...and last year's video games! I'll check both Brothers in Arms and Battlefield out...

My kids think I'm crazy, BTW.

I did it on the hardest setting only after Id played it TONS online. The AI seemed a bit dim after battling humans for a decent period of time

brothers in arms 2 looks insane.

Yeah I hate this time of year. Nothing good for ages the 20 killer titles come out at once ready for christmas. Takes me a year to catch up with everything I wanted to try.

Mainly im thinking God Of War, Spartan - Total Warrior, and Battlefield 2. Should be a very bloody chrimbo :)

good points. I think Konomi should jsut fork over the dough and get all the licenses with a great career mode. The Career mode is pretty much the only reason I play the FIFA series. I love taking smaller teams all the way to European Glory and then starting over again.

If I win this $310 million lottery tonight I'll start my own gaming company, acquire the rights to FIFA 07 and Winning Eleven 10 and just combine the two into a huge super game.
