The top striking talents in world football are David Villa and Fernando Torres for me. I think based on their performances in Euro 2008, David Villa is the more complete player at the moment.

Based on the Euro, neither are all that deserving of that designation as Torres didn't really distinguish himself from the other top forwards of the tournament (Though their sides didn't win the trophy, Podolski, Van Persie, Arshavin, Klose and Pavlyuchenko all matched or equalled Torres' tally of 2 goals and 1 assist) and Villa came up with diddly-squat after the group stage.

One could argue that scoring the winning goal in the Final distinguished Torres from the other strikers you mentioned. Torres' name will be remembered for decades because of that goal. No other goal in that tournament will hold as much resonance in the memories of future generations.
