Rooney has one good week and he's up there with the best. Come on. Look up "overrated" in the dictionary and you'll see this:

If you find this in your dictionary under "overrated " I suggest you should have a very strong word with your book store !
Is there any reason your dictionary carries pictures , is it to make it easier for you to understand ?

There's no doubt Torres is the best striker in the world in my eyes.

Eto`o is the best striker in the world , it is not just about scoring goals , it is the mentality that they carry.

Eto'o looks like a new man this season. I don't know if it's ronaldinho leaving or renewed energy on his own behalf or maybe he's just 100% healthy for the first time but Eto'o (and Torres for that matter) is the complete package.

It's strange how peoples opinions vary. Rooney is crap and overrated because he doesn't score enough goals, yet Eto'o is the best because he doesn't?

Except Eto'o does score alot of goals. I think he's just saying that that's not the only aspect he has to his game. He fell off many people's radar because he has lots of injury problems the past few seasons but when he was fit he was constantly scoring.

These are Eto'o's numbers the past couple of La Liga seasons:

04/05:

24 goals 37 matches

05/06:

26 goals in 35 matches

06/07:

11 goals in 19 matches

07/08:

16 goals in 18 matches

So far this seasons he has 6 goals in 7 matches.

I know Eto'o is a great player it just bugs me that Rooney doesn't get the recognition he deserves from fans of other nations because of our media.

Well Rooney is just now getting into very good form again. He had underperformed a bit the past seasons. Though that too could probably be attributed to fitness problems and being played out of position.

The problem is, he doesn't stay in the positions he's given, he just wants the ball in any part of the field and has amazing vision. I'm not staking a case for him as the Best striker in the world but I'd say he's top 5 right now.

I honestly think Rooney is the best striker in the world on current form. He's been the best striker in the Prmeiership so far this season, which is the strongest league in the world right now and at Man Utd his clearly outshining his attacking colleagues like C.Ronaldo, Tevez and Berbatov who are also among the best attacking players in the world.

You gotta remember Torres is injured. He was in good form before that.

True, but I don't think you can say there's that much in it.

Rooney is not a striker and his return to top form coincides with him playing behind a competent striker for club and country.

Sorry he is a striker. He may not be an 'out-and-out centyre forward', but a striker he still is. Unless you want to change how the word striker's been used for the last goodness knows how long.
