I don't think anyone can function with Gomez the way he's been missing those wide open nets :D
Agreed, I'm am thoroughly perplexed how he has been in such great form with Stuttgart this season but can't buy a goal in the Euro. I suppose some of the clubs in the Bundesliga do not quite have the skill level as some of the nations in the Euro or the pressure of playing for your country in a major tournament. But that is besides the point, he has had great chances and should have at least 2, maybe 3 goals by now.

Got to say after watching Torres this past season light up the premiership i think he's got to be up the top of the list.
Might not be firing them in at the Euro's yet, but he's been key in setting up goals and taking defenders out of the action.
Top class player.
Haven't read through 123 pages of posts so i'm sure his name has come up a few times and been dismissed a few times also.
He's young, he's full of confidence and he sticks the ball in the pokey!

yeah, from what I've seen of him this season his finishing has been great, I expected alot more given the chances he's got.

Let's be fair, Jerrito, Gomez has been atrocious whereas Toni has simply been lackluster.

Also Toni has come close and created chances. Gomez looked scared. Toni just looked off in his finishing.

Yeah, Gomez has been arguably the biggest let down of the tournament.

Not to be unfair to Cruz, but with respect to club form he really isn't anywhere near Gomez's level.

How come the last two pages have been soley on performance on the national team level. I realize it is the European Championships right now, but (like someone said on this thread, sorry for lack of recognition) it really is a short measuring stick. Look at some of the greatest strikers in the world and how they could be judged if you only looked at a maximum of 6 games (not even that for most). Luca Toni, Fernando Torres, Miroslav Klose, Mario Gomez and Thierry Henry, just to name a few, would be extremly underesimated for how they have played for their clubs.

I agree one tournament is not a long enough time span to judge the best, I was just making a point that those two strikers have been EXTREMELY subpar recently. And as for Henry, I do not agree about his club form. He has definately underperformed for Barca and his stats dont tell half the story.
