Well he's going to want/need playing time so would you put him in the middle then and frings on the wing? Podolski, Ballack, Frings, and Schweinsteiger, will all need/want to start if those are the mids they go with, and if they use a 4-4-2.

Schweinsteiger does not deserve to play ahead of Podolski, Borowski, or Hitzlsperger. If it were up to me, yeah, he'd be a back-up CM, but I wouldn't start him and I wouldn't tamper with the Ballack-Frings chemistry in the center.

The impression I've about Löw is he ever prefer a second striker behind of Klose, that's the reason I thought Podolski would begin as second striker and not as winger.

Any possibility to Trochowski or Borowski to the left midfield?, I think would be better options than Podolski there.

No real possibility of a start for Trochowski, but Borowski has a legitimate shot at RM. The Germany fans on this board, like myself, are generally hoping for Podolski on the left and Borowski on the right.

Anyway, we're getting off topic.

Some top strikers are going to play some big games at Euro2008. These are the sort of games that can really enhance a player's reputation.

Yeah, I can see Euro '08 settling the dispute that seems to be brewing between Torres and Toni.

If not it will be fun to watch them try anyway.

There is no dispute. Torres cannot touch the record Toni has over recent years.

I'd be willing to bet that neither of them finish the competition as top scorer.

I would certainly be surprised if Toni was. It's just not the way Italy plays. He is almost a decoy the way we use him, and great at setting up other players. There is probably a better chance for Torres, but that would surprise me as well.

My guess is on a striker no one really expects......Klasnic anyone?

I never said he could.

This year, Torres and Toni have definitely been the 2 best #9s in Europe, but due to the changes in leagues and European competitions, it's been difficult to separate them. Euro '08 might go a long way to doing that.

I think if Italy continue their success then it will be someone like Di Natale.

Now that I can envision. I expect him to make a huge impression in this tournament.

yeah, it seems like hardly any chances for italy other than off set pieces, fall to toni, as he drops back and di natale and camoranesi make runs off him, or he holds up play and drops it back to pirlo in the middle to distribute...so far in qualifying and most of the friendlies it worked, and the players off of him (whether di natale, camoranesi, palladino, quagliarella, et al) all seemed to score goals and be threatening, but toni wasn't nearly as prolific as one might think.

to just score 5 goals in this competition, italy will have to go deep and he will have to really play well and be very efficient in his chances...just the way he is played.

Schweinsteiger looks like a little kid on the RW...he is useless there. Probably any other midfielder would be better on the RW.

For Bayern, at least this season, he usually plays on the right, and he usually sucks.

Schweinsteiger had a solid game coming on for Fritz on the right. Recovered that bad ball to eventually set up Podolski for his second goal and had a few shots on net. I'd say he played pretty good on the right wing.

It looks like I have confused my Spaniards. What I meant by Fernando Torres was...David Villa.;)

Haha the guy that said he was shocked to see Torres on the list..
do you watch football?!

He has done horrible things for liverpool in his first season in the premiership.

Drogba and Torres would murk on a regular basis.

*topic* My buttons would go for M. Gomez and Nistelrooy. Most complete young striker and the deadliest goalgetter around.
