I have seen it. All Toni needed to do was get the header on target. Most 'continental' keepers are prone to coming out so I would hardly call it a mistake. It was to be expected. Unless you consider the vast majority of all headed goals from set pieces to be mistakes.

Luca Toni has to be mentioned as one of the best strikers no doubt, his strike rate over the past 4-5 seasons has been second to none. I beleive he has scored the most domestic league goals in Europe over the past 5 seasons. That in itself speaks volumes. His strike rate for Italy is impressive and is currently leading the UEFA cup with 10 goals.
He is your typical big man up front, and is probably the best striker with his back to the goal.

No, the keepers mistake was him being hesitant to come out in the first place, and then back tracking back to his original position, and then the slight slip up that followed.
I am pretty sure keeper coaches specify not to hesitate when committing to a cross. That was his mistake.

Irregardless, Toni still had to climb and get in between two defenders, get that power and placement on it. Not easy to do, certainly not under the preasure they were in.

Not trying to take anyways from Toni. I am just saying there is a reason(2really) why the Getafe keeper looked so frustrated and distraught with himself when the final whistle was blown.

Toni>Torres.
Once Prem defenders get to know Torres better,
then he won't seem quite as dazzling.

Does the fact that Toni used to play for Fiorentina influence your opinion?

This is crazy, Toni is a goal poacher and Torres has transfered to the Premiership briliantly in only one season, as for the people saying that defenders will get used to him, hasnt happened with Ronaldo, great players are just great.
As for the person the said Torres has problems getting past Ferdinand but Toni can get past anyone, the reason for this is Ferdinand is a great defender everyone has problems getting past him and Vidic, thats why they've only conceeded 17odd times this year! Toni doesnt have to come up against his kind of quality very often in Germany.

Goal poacher? Not quite. Transfer? Things are a bit different in the Bundesliga and Serie A as well. And Toni has played against great "competition" (defenders of course) and done extremely well. I think great things of Torres and would love him at my club, but you seem to be slighting Toni a bit too much to make your argument for Torres.

Ok fair enough I just think Toni is past it. All I've seen of him is him as a goal poacher, largely in European cups, was it Fiorentina he used to play for?

Past it? This can possibly become the best season of his career. How is he "past it"? Maybe you should watch more of him before deciding to make such comments.

I beleive he has 34 goals in 42 games this year, he is hardly past anything!

Labelling Toni as 'past it' is like calling Torres unproven.
