I suppose you could call him a "de facto striker".

Sorry, we don't negotiate with including midfielders in this thread – just like we don't negotiate with terrorists.

Torres, Gomez, Luis Fabiano and Eto'o are a pretty solid top four for me.

Torres wasn't that great in La Liga, they had a back line that was dropped back further and knew how to play him. EPL teams plays a high back line which allows him to break through more often.

Let's wait and see how he does in 2010.....

For now I would say Torres,He's on fire right now. And If Ronaldo is a striker , then no one can deny that he's the best for now

Well he also didn't play with a team as good as Liverpool.

2010 World Cup, he should put away a goal a game if he is the best in the world....Not going to happen.

Has C. Ronaldo proven himself in international or CL games? Has Torres?

Ronaldo has proven himself internationally. And he has recently in the CL as well. Torres has been doing fine internationally as well, in regards to the CL...Big game coming up.

Torres already scoring 20 goals for Liverpool and Villa havin 12 goals with 10 assists that combination equals sucess(hopefully)

Torres wasn't that great in La Liga...

He was great enough to score 75 goals in 174 appearances, to become team captain at a young age, and to play well enough to merit a cool 26.5 million pounds in transfer to Liverpool.

But, he wasn't that great for your taste?

Towards the last quater of United Games once they have a comfortable lead, Rooney drops back and plays wing (left) and Ronaldo moves into Rooney's vacated striker slot. So Ronaldo is an occasional striker in his pitch placement anyway, that being said he is the best striker because if he is playing up front, middle, left or right the end result is a deadly strike.

If all player on 100% fitness, RONALDO is the best! I also doubt Djibril Cisse.

Too bad Ronaldo isn't a striker...which is what this thread is about...
