So Burdisso didnt deserve his yellow cards, yet the other 5 players who got only one yellow card definitely deserved their's...why arent you disputing those other cards if your disputing Burdisso's...at least the ref was consistent.
Neither Materazzi nor Burdisso merited red cards and the fact remains that their sending off in each game was a major factor in your victory. It's not just me saying that but most neutrals, including both commentary teams at the time. I don't care about other bookings because regardless of whether they were merited or not a single yellow card, while it might change the approach of an individual player in regard to tacking, it does not fundamdentally change the approach of an entire team. Having a player send off clearly does.

I think everyone who watched both matches will acknowledge that Zlatan was sh1t and a huge disappointment. He had some chances but messed them up. Basically his reputation took a battering and even you cannot deny this. He may indeed be an excellent striker but over this tie and the last World Cup he has looked woeful and simply not delivered. These may be aberrations but on such a big stage they will be remembered.
Frankly I am pleased that such a good player has a shocker in each of the 5 matches against my teams. Keep it up Zlatan. ;)

All that matters now is that Inter is out and Liverpool advance.

But in the talk about best striker then Zlatan's rep took a hit.

zlatan has had poor performances in big games but he is still a world class player and one of the best strikers in the world. Without him inter would not be where they are at. If you look at totti last year against man u and the beginning of this season against top serie a teams he was less than impressive, pirlo in the past few weeks especially against arsenals second game, ronaldo against milan last year. All great players have strings of poor games, but they are all still world class.
The second game against liverpool, zlatan might have missed two good opportunities but besides that he did a good job distributing to his teammates and showed his world class touch leading up to the attacking third. He is a supporting striker naturally so he does a lot of the creative work and not just scoring, it's not all about goals.

You can still get knocked out but have a good game, like Zanetti did. Zlatan was just underwhelming.
When considering strikers and how they rate then it is primarily about goals and the quantity of them. You might score the goals of the highest quality
but unless you score a large quantity you will never be regarded as the best striker in the World. I remember Carbone scoring some amazing goals but frankly he was not prolific enough.
Anyway best striker is simply a matter of opinion and so no-one can really prove they are right.

I dont think anyone is refuting the fact that zlatan underperformed in both matches, but this poor spell is not enough imo to say he is no longer one of the best strikers. Just the beginning of this season he was in incredible form and practically unstoppable.
I disagree about scoring a large amount of goals is the only way to be considered among the best. Players have different roles on the team and zlatan is a different type of player than Etoo. zlatan does a lot of the creative work and receives the ball closer to the midline. Anyways, like you said it is a matter of opinion but i cant think of many strikers that i would put over zlatan to what he brings to the team.

Fair enough. I would not say Zlatan should be ruled out of the reckoning. Merely that his performances against Liverpool were, thankfully, ones that will have hurt his rep and not enhanced it.

Adebayor, L. Fabiano, Torres, are the best strikers this season.
L. Fabiano 26 goals
F. Torres 26 Goal
Adebayor 25 Goal
Best striker in the world for me is still Samuel Eto'o.

My point was in regard to him scoring against the biggest sides in Serie A, therefore he has performed in big games.
So using that logic, Thierry Henry isn't a choker?
(Change Serie A for EPL?

What player, no matter how great, has never choked in a big match?

Exactly. The word "choke" has been always been thrown around too lightly and often.

Cristiano Ronaldo isn't/wasn't a chocker?
They don't really compare tbh.
Cristiano is 23, his career is on the up and he still has many chances to perform in the big games and tournaments. If you're talking about the here and now, then maybe you could say Cristiano's a choker, but that wouldn't be fair imo.
Henry, on the other hand, is 30, his career is winding down and has had many chances to prove himself in the big games and tournaments but has ultimately gone missing. If you want to take this further, then do a simple search and you'll find a couple of threads debating this.

I think Fabiano is a clear contender for best striker in the world as far as pure goal scoring is concerned.

Fabiano is not among the best strikers in the world ^ he is good but he's not great.
Messi is the best forward in the world imo... watch out for Torres too he's doing great at liverpool

1 Henry
2 Droghba
3 Adriano
these 3 dont even start on their teams, with the exception of drogba.. henry has been way too inconsistent at barca, adriano got tossed from inter... are you serious? these guys will have trouble making top 10 lists..
