I like Ronaldo. Basically cause he is on Man U.
He is not a striker !

We have discussed this issue previously in the thread. If you include the likes of Messi, as several people did, then Ronaldo clearly merits inclusion. Regardless, the parameters have already been changed from striker to include forwards as well.

i know it might be biased but my favorite is Mutu, everytime i look on the Fiorentina scoresheet he is on there, he has carried that team this year now that Toni left
but as far as "the best" eto'o and zlatan

So I take it wingers are being included in the "forwards" category then? This gets a bit sticky, since wingers like Ronaldo and Messi are being classed as forwards but wingers like Franck Ribery and Joe Cole are clearly more midfielders than forwards.

Messi and Ronaldo often get classified as forwards as well by the press.

I am not disputing they are forwards. They are not strikers though. The distinction between the two seems to elude some people.

The people that included Messi are wrong too then. The thread says Striker] and not Winger]. There is no doubt that Ronaldo is currently the best overall player in the world.
Current form:
- Ibrahimovic
- Van Nistelrooy
- Totti
- Torres
- Toni[If he can considered]

I know it and you know it but you're tempting all the Ronaldo haters, Kaka/Messi/Other fanboys and a possible derailment of a very good thread with a comment like that.
Good post otherwise though.

Too bad Ronaldo can't seem to get it done in Europe while Kaka (excluding most of the final :D) can. Messi is almost if not as good as Ronaldo and he's younger (he's also better than Ronaldo was at his age).

Well...Ronaldo is certainly getting it done in Europe so far this season, 5 goals? Its too bad Kaka can't get it done in Italy though, had to rely on a 18 year to spark him up.
On the Messi comment, he is playing in a less physical league, but he was more influential at 20 then Ronaldo was at 20. But currently, its not even close..Ronaldo has trippled Messi's goal tally.

Only because Messi is too injury prone.

When was the last time Messi scored 25 goals in 25 matches?

many a great player has been slighted due to lack of performance in cl ko rounds, not saying it's fair, but 5 cl goals in group stages won't be looked upon as "delivering" in europe unless he adds to it some great performances in ko rounds, preferably semis or deeper.
we'll see, so far, i agree, this season best in world.

^^^I don't see edit button, but i forgot to add that ibra is very close though. i think he has 18 goals and 6 assists in 23 games and ronaldo has 25 goals, 3 assists in 25 games. so by the numbers he is right up there, and in influence he is as well, but yes, i give ronaldo the edge.

A point I made ages ago but it did not change anything. Although it should be noted that neither Ronaldo nor Messi are wingers.

The problem begins with Ibrahimovic and Totti because both could easily be classed as forwards.
Adebayor? :)
No. Although when you consider the outrageous adulation Drogba received for a merely good season last time around then you could easily make the claim that Adebayor is vastly underrated by most. Nowhere near the best though.
Too bad Ronaldo can't seem to get it done in Europe
Ronaldo had the second most assists in the CL last season and finished with three goals. He is currently joint top for goals this time around. He has clearly delivered in Europe.

Yet which team made it to the final? Who won at the San Siro? It certainly wasn't Ronaldo's team. He won't be truly proven until he wins the whole thing which he was incapable of last season. Doing exceptionally well in the group stage proves nothing.

Ibrahimovic is currently classed as a striker however he can be classed as a forward. Totti is the other way round...currently classed as forward can be striker.

Last season yes...but his assists this season are much lower than last season. If he gets both up at the same time that will also help...i think he has 2 or 3 assists in the EPL this season and about 5 in the CL.
