also, does anyone know how many cup rounds there are left?The Windies have 32 teams remaining... that means five rounds to go to cut it to one. I don't know if anybody here has a good enough team to expect to stick around that long.

By my count 9 out of 24 teams still in, the English cup (the largest I think) is down to 64 teams.

I am still thinking to start this in two weeks, if we have to, we can switch to a knockout style and allow the teams still in their national cups a bye until the following week. We would need a prelim round anyway as we have 24 teams.

But switching to knockout style foils my plan to screw teams over by the way I picked the tournament groups. :D

Right, cup starts November 13. so play a friendly this week and then hold off.

I sent a Battrick mail to everyone individually yesterday notifying them of this.

I'll normal Sunday's match and its really up in the air if I'll beat this guy on normal.

I know for sure some of the KC Metro Fed guys on Hattrick will still be in their National Cup, one of the guys (playing in Pakistan IIRC) made the cup final last season and has an awesome team.

Comparing the ratings Norse posted in the most recent cup match with other teams still alive...
* Saint Barth had a better middle order
* Bosstones had better batting and spin bowling
* Borderliners had a better middle order and better seam bowling
* winningconnection had a better middle order
(ignoring a few others who are higher seeds and only had better spin bowling, because their spin bowling is less than my seam bowling and my pitch is and will be favorable to seam bowlers)

Considering that and that I haven't yet needed to GFI, I think it's reasonable to think that I might make the semis or the finals in the Windies, depending on the draw.

New battrick cup format and groups to accomodate the 4 teams still in their respective national cups:

Games start this coming Sunday for 5 of the 6 groups, so challenge your opponent, home team listed first.

I'll be joining this next week no doubt cuz the team I'm up against pulls better ratings than me in seambowling and top order by a considerable amount... I think I'll TIE, which will probably humiliate the team, but atleast it will give me a shot at my important league match.

Looking at the draw in the next round, this time around Norse beat everyone on top order (unless I missed one), although only by one level in the case of Borderliners, and matched or beat everyone but Borderliners on seam bowling, where they had us by three levels. Basically, it looks like two of the top three remaining sides are facing off in the quarterfinals. :(
