I read that today too. I am torn on this.
Part of me says, "And he shouldn't be focusing on his individual contract and he should be focused on team issues like winning. Anything that distracts him or having new terms released would just be a detriment."
The other part of me says, "He doesn't want to re-sign but, he doesn't want that coming out in the middle of a season where his relationship with the fans and his teammates would get absolutely destroyed and he would have to live with it until the spring."
Not sure which one is correct but, I am leaning toward the second thought. Don't get me wrong, I would love for him to stay but, Arsenal will carry on no matter what.
I just wish that if he knows he wants to leave, he would talk with the club about it. That way they could make an attempt at making condidtions right for him to stay or, failing that, get something for him in the transfer window.

It could be just what he says, and that he doesn't want distractions caused by the contract talks. It will be a media circus when those talks start with tons of runors and speculation. I think Henry will stay but want the club to match his desire to succeed. Also, he is 28 now, possibly 29 when he re-ups his contract, so it will be one of the most important negotiations of his carrer. Best to wait until all partys can sit and talk unineterupted and clearly.

There's actually one way to stop any media circus. That's to say nothing on the subject at all. And I don't buy this "distraction" malarkey anyway. Really, what input does Henry have in the negotiations anyway? He'll instruct his advisors (or if he's anything like Cashley his advisors will instruct him), they'll negotiate on his behalf and when they've cut a deal he'll sign or not.

Well, he always talks about his loyalty to the club, Wenger, and London so let's see him put his money where his mouth is and re-sign. We'll just have to wait till the end of the season to see what happens.

This may just be me, but it sounds like he is waiting to see how the team performs this season, before deciding whether to move on or not. He is at the peak of his career and wants success, mostly in europe. If it looks like he still cannot get that here, i wouldnt be surprised to see him leave like vieira in search of another challenge, and a better shot at winning a CL title before his career ends.
Many people here have had to eat their preseason words, and admit that this is a transitional season for us, not a title pushing season. In reality this isnt the rebuilding season, that would actually be next season. This season so far we have seen the need to do some rebuilding, but we arent actually doing any rebuilding of the squad at the moment. That would take place hopefully over the summer, and then next season would be our rebuilding season while hopefully a new crop of players gets time to gel as a unit.
Right now im betting that should we end up a distant 3rd, or flop in the second round of the CL, he will most likely be on his way. I wouldnt be surprised to ljungberg up and leave too. The senior players have won several league titles already, they want european success before their careers begin to burnout.

I guess the only thing to say to you about this is look at the table in January and see where we are in the league. There are a lot of matches to be played between now and May.......

I think he's right in not discussing it. Let him focus on getting back and moving us up in the league. I'm sure he'll be working it all out with AW & DD.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that M. Henry has learned "The Patrick Vieira Lesson"--shut your festering gob about contracts and money and transfers when you're the goddddddammmmmned captain of the team! As if Arsenal needed any more distractions from playing this year.
Meanwhile, you can speculate all you want about his loyalty to the club, but I'd have to say his loyalty to the manager is what's at issue--and I have never doubted it. Besides, we can always buy Franny Jeffers back at a cut-rate.

Considered how many injuries the team has had to adjust to in the first month or so, I don't think it's fair for anyone to speculate how TH14 is viewing the team. He hasn't even had much chance to contribute because of the groin problem, so why should he talk about what's going on off the field OR on it?
The contract negotiations will happen in time and he's expressed his loyalty to Arsenal many times. If he wants to sign, he'll do it, but on his schedule.

One interesting thing to note come the off-season...there won't really be one if France qualifies, because he'll be in Germany. Might be a bit too busy there to negotiate as well. Just a thought.

Henry should just pull a Totti and pledge his future to the Arsenal. He is treated like a god here.. why would he leave that to go somewhere like Barcelona or Real Madrid where he is just another Star. I understand his fustration with Arsenals lack of ambition but if he really wants to win throphies with Arsenal...Its really up to him.

All the noises from the club have been along the lines of getting him to sign sooner rather than later, and that's at odds with the position he's just announced?
I really, really hope I'm wrong but it to looks to me like the club may have mismanaged this, in the same way they did Paddy's departure? I strongly think that only several significant signings in January, or a powerful CL run, will keep Titi at the Club now. The board are going to be forced to sell him at a knock price in January or risk seeing all his transfer value disappear by the summer?
There are other things at work in the club and I think that the disruptions will continue till we're well and truly settled at AG; but all know that how I feel anyhoo!!! :D

Why would he want to go to a world-class club to a club that doesn't win anything?

Why did Patrick Vieira leave then? I know he was sold, spare me the ...........
I'm deathly afraid Henry will not resign, and then the club will have to sell him because arsenal are not a big enough club to leave 20+ million pound fee Henry would bring on the table if he walks on a Bosman.
