No Kipling, Orwell, et al. are weeping.
The English language is too fine a thing to be so misused.

Without a doubt, rolling the ball is misconduct that needs to be penalized. Unfortunately not enough referees are making the right call. I probably would have given Kyle a yellow/red card for blatant rolling…it’s something we don’t want to see, especially in a Varsity High School game.
And Tom obviously needs to work on making saves….I’d give him a yellow card too for missing the save.
And for Madison, I need to talk to the English department in the High School you attend….they would definitely get a red card!

Wait, you are telling me 'Kyle' got the card. I'm sure I told the refs that 'John' was supposed to get the card. Also, 'Tom' was supposed to be the left back, 'Jamie' was supposed to be the back-up goalie. No wonder Tom couldn't save the kick (much like BigSoccer spell check couldn't save you).

Do we have a blue card (or maybe a nice green card with a question mark) for a completely incomprehensible sentence or paragraph? Yikes, was this poor.

When I first started reffing with AYSO a couple years back they gave me a Blue card.

Can you please rephrase the question? May I suggest that you proof your posts before striking the submit key, it would help curtail all of the lame attempts at humor posted above.

Funny you should mention Kipling, he probably was reading this and weeping. Not many people are aware of this, but the first stanza of his poem "If" is clearly about referees:
"If you can keep your head whan all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait [obviously a reference to advantage] and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look tooo good, nor talk too wise"

Well, leave it to a bunch of refs to zero in on details not germane to the main question so they can 'make the right call' and pat each other on the back about it.
Really, that was too easy. Oh wait, my shirt is not tucked in, am I still allowed to post?

My attempt at reading between the lines to suss out the sequence of events(help me out here if I've got it wrong, Madison midfielder38):
Scenario 1
Penal foul in the area
Ref asks for ball to place at the spot
Keper (disagreeing with call) rolls ball in a different direction than the CR
Yellow card for dissent
HS rules means player sits
Backup keeper gets scored on.
Scenario B ;)
DFK/IFK called just outside the area
Keeper takes ball and rolls it in a different direction (maybe to gain time to set his defence?)
CR cards for delay/timewasting/dissent by action
Ends with same result as sequence 1.
If either scenarios are close to what happened, I'd expect Kyle to get a talking-to by the coach on the consequences of dissent and how his actions affect the rest of the team.

I get the distinct feeling that we'd LOVE to answer this guy's question if we had ANY idea what he was asking. Some have made very nice attempts at guessing, most have chosen to try to inject some levity into Monday morning, but we really have no idea.
As refs, we are all well-practiced on calling what we see. We can't see what Madison_midfielder is talking about, but we can sure as heck see his butchering the language.

From his profile, he's 14; I'll cut him some slack, but then I've had my coffee this morning. :)
Really, I don't know if I'm close to the mark at all. The original post was, um, a un poco confusing?

new guess. the cr asked the keeper for the ball. instead of giving it to the cr, the keeper rolled the ball to the mark. perhaps this was not the first encounter between the keeper and cr? or, perhaps it was the way the keeper ignored the cr's instruction? or a little of each?
players need to treat the cr with some respect; and vise versa. simple courtesy goes a long way on the pitch.
madison - please give greater details when you post to help us all better understand and not need to guess at our calls. tks. :)

I suspect that we missed something. Probably something was said. Probably by Kyle. Maybe the ref had specifically instructed Kyle to give him the ball. The problem with being a smartaleck after the whistle has been blown is that the only thing the ref can do is ignore it or issue a card. Hopefully Kyle learned his lesson.
