Gaël Givet (AS Monaco)
Anthony Réveillère (Olympique Lyonnais)
Willy Sagnol (Bayern Munich)
Sébastien Squillaci (AS Monaco)
Lillian Thuram (Juventus)

For Switzerland, I would play a far more defensive formation with one up top like against Ireland.

Coupet

Sagnol----Thurman----Givet----Gallas

Makelele----Vieira

Dhorasoo-----Zizou----Malouda

Trezeguet

And for Cyprus;

I would drop both Vikash and Florent for Guily and Cisse. And go with a Trez-Cisse partnerhsip up front with Zizou, Guily and Vieria behind, with Makelele protecting the back.

5.Cyprus 8 1 1 6 8-15 4
6.Faroe Islands 9 0 1 8 3-25 1

Games:

8th Oct
Cyprus v Ireland
Israel v Faroe Islands
Switzerland v France

12th Oct
Ireland v Switzerland
France v Cyrpus

I think a draw would suit France in Bern, as Switzerland winning in Ireland once again is a tough call. France should thrash Cyprus at home.

Another butt-tightening game... ( | ) :o

I think France is going to play to snatch a win but not at any cost of course.

Switzerland will probably play like that (4-1-2-1-2):

--------------Zuberbuhler

Degen - Senderos - Muller - Magnin

------------Vogel

---------Barnetta - Wicky

----------- Cabanas

-------Vonlanthen - Frei

Nice to see Reveilliere get the call after his strong showings for Les Gones.

This game against the Swiss is going to be intense. I'm confident that we can get a draw and perhaps a win in Switzerland, and quite confident we can handle Cyprus at home

Well, Trezeguet just walked off the Juve v Inter match w/ what looks like a groin strain...

Definitely a muscular problem to his very upper left thigh.

And Thuram had come out 5 mn before that for
injury as well
We'll know tomorrow what their situation is.

not good if we are missing our 2 best strikers. i mean all we need is a tie but it would be nice to have some firepower for the sake of the intimidation factor. well, i hope it isnt serious. Trez must be itching to play for France and I'll bet he'll score if he is healthy.

Thuram? Thats even more serious if he's injured.

Vieira, Trézéguet, Gallas and Thuram are likely to not be able to play against Switzerland.

I can't fu..ing believe it. Trézeguet injured again. Is this man made of sugar or what.
If even Viera, Thuram and Gallas are injured too, then we're in trouble.
I don't understand why all those players have been so often injured lately.

Is Switzerland a future major european team? I will say yes if....

Indeed, with the U - 21 golden generation, Senderos (Arsenal); Ziegler (Spurs/Hambourg); Barnetta (Bayer Lerverkussen), Behrami (Lazio); Degen (Dortmund); Chiumento ( Juve/Le Man); Djourou (Arsenal); Vonlanthen (PSV/Breda); Zambrella (Brescia), etc... with some players as Frei (Rennes), Vogel (AC Milan), Wicky (Hambourg); Magnin, Streller (Stugartt), Müller (Basel), etc... the Swiss national team has never had in the past so many good players...

However, amis français, one thing is sure, Switzerland would never be world champion.... we are only 7,400,000 people in Switzerland and therefore have not enough international players..., but I think that we can do something next Saturday against France in Bern.

So, I wish you all the best for this game and have fun ;)

Think of it as the bad karma linked to Zidane's return. It was bound to happen sometime.

A force de considérer l'équipe comme un seul homme, la France va finir par jouer le match en formation 0-ZZ-0 :D

But for the moment its all just speculation. According to L'Equipe Thuram's early substitution had been planned before the match...no one's sure howbad Trezeguet's injury is yet and so forth and so on. I hate that tactic that certain coaches have of saying that X or Y is 'unlikely to play' and then popping him in at the last minute...

Confirmed: NO Trezeguet. He needs 7 - 10 days of rest for his thigh.

Thuram, still unsure, he'll need to be observed but I believe is still meeting up w/ the NT.

Holland have a meager 15 million and they are in contention to win at every world cup. And Ireland have a mere 4 million citizens, and they have done great on the International scene recently.

When does Frank Ribery get called up? I mean Pegguy Luyindula????? Are you ********ing kidding me with this?

It should be pointed out that 20% of the population are foreigners, so that leaves us with 5,920,000. Still...Denmark has done well with a similar population over the last few years. Our goal should be to accomplish a similar level of consistency.

As for the game, a draw works for both of us - n'est-ce pas mes amis français? ;)
