Brazilians are (rightly so!) known as the kings of the footballing landscape. But what of other Brazilian athletes not playing football? This thread is to help shine the light on other Brazilian athletes past or present.

My favourite Brazilian athlete was basketball player Oscar Schmidt. No he never played in the NBA, but he probably had a lasting memory on the NBA landscape and was probably "responsible" for the American Dream Team at the Olympic games in 1992 Barcelona, Spain.

Yes in the 1987 Pan American games featuring future NBA stars such as David Robinson, Mitch Richmond and Danny Manning, Schmidt proceeded to drop an incredible double nickle (B-ball slang for 55 points) in the gold medal match. I'll always sitting in front of the TV in awe as he was simply unstoppable firing from all parts of the court.

She's recovering from a shoulder surgery right now, but hopefully she will return in time for the woman's volleyball Superliga which begins next December! Can't wait!
