Iron and Wine just don't really do it for me. a little too mellow. Is this collaboration different?

Their cover of "Such Great Heights" is ok, but I like the original better

Iron and Wine is one guy - Sam Beam. yes, it is mellow but his songwriting is amazing

it is a different collaboration...with Calexico.

Seems to be some kind of acheivement to get on the first page, isn't it always the way that someone who's hardly ever here does it?

And Cam, if you want some rain we've got plenty here in London. Good for keeping the pitch in tip top condition though.

Hey now! Thanks for the breakfast Cam. That Iron & Wine collaboration with Calexico is really great, but then again, I've been a fan of Iron & Wine for a couple of years now. It helps when you have a friend who worked at a record store.

it's hard to describe b/c I don't know that much about Calexico. But here is an excellent review: Iron & Wine/Calexico 'In the Reins' Review (http://pitchforkmedia.com/record-reviews/i/iron-and-wine/in-the-reins.shtml)

I'll be getting some of that rain in a few weeks! We have been in a drought here in south Texas and it has been in the 100's (F) for the last week.

I wish it was even somewhere near that hot here in central IL. It's starting to get cold here, got down into the 40's on Wednesday night.

When it is in the upper 90's and lower 100's for 5 months, you will be wishing for some cooler weather. I look forward to being able to spend 5 minutes outside without sweating like a pig.

Well, it's definitely fall here, as it was 87 during the day, but dipped down to below 50 last night.

Oohhhh NICE!

That is one of the things I miss about living so far south for so long (south Florida and Texas). No real seasons. I loved autumn as a kid, the changing leaves, cool dry air, etc. Perfect football weather. When I lived in Miami, the only way I knew X-mas was nearing is the lot across the street sold trees!

That kind of weather sounds nice, where's here?

Going back to some of the music discussions yesterday, I was reminded this morning of another great performer who is from my hometown of Tulsa, Leon Russell and the Shelter People. I really love his music, especially the songs about OK. Whenever one of his songs comes up at a bar, the whole place will sing along!
