This was posted in the dbstalk.com forums website:
EchoStar will announce today that it's carrying ESPN Deportes in its DISH Latino Spanish-language offering. The network will debut today, and in time for ESPN's coverage of the San Francisco 49ers/Arizona Cardinals game taking place Sunday night in Mexico City.

So it's a minimum of $24.99/month. :( I SUPPOSE I could purchase it for two days each CL week and just pay the downgrade fee each time. Cheaper than most PPV games at least. Seems silly though.

I think it's time for Dishnetwork to enhance their sports package to offer more flexibility in their programming not just "fox sports networks".
Now it's not convenient for a lot of people who wants to have the maximum number of soccer channels on dishnetwork. I think they will get some complains on that and I don't see it hard to have a package like Direct TV has for $10 in addition to a basic package.

I'm definitely signing up to dish network. Even though I don't want to give up Directv, but they have Setanta and their programming sucks balls. Hopefully in the future Directv will reach a deal with Deportes, but for now, Dish here I come.

As far as soccer is concerned, other than the Champions League they have the Dutch Eredivisie. I'm sure the latin-american population is interested in Dutch football.

As far as soccer is concerned, some Euro World Cup quals, especially those involving Holland.
However, WCQ campaign is coming to a close.
On ESPN Latin America, there are Serie A and la Liga, that's what you don't see on ESPN Deportes.

ESPN Latin America used to cover two brands of soccer that made you scratch your head: SPL and Eredivisie. How much do you think the Latin American population would be interested in Scottish soccer (except the time when Claudio Caniggia was playing for Dundee United)?

Makes as much sense as Americans following the German or Italian leagues! I mean really, who does that?

the correct analogy would be Americans following the German or Italian league BASKETBALL. Really, who does that? That's similar to South Americans following the SPL.
Americans following the German or Italian league? If we forget about European expats, we can still count on two groups of Americans: Latino immigrants and Asian immigrants.

If I'm not mistaken, for a small fee it is possible to subscribe to specific DISH network tiers a-la-carte without getting the whole 300 channel enchilada. I forget what this fee is, but it may be worth finding out if the HD tier and Latino tiers can be subscribed to a-la-carte this way. ESPN Deportes happens to be exclusive to DISH Latino for nationwide coverage, and RUSH HD (which shows La Liga matches in HD) happens to be exclusive to DISH HD for nationwide coverage.
This way, it may still be possible to keep your DirecTV system for is Setanta USA, TyC Sports or whatever, and not give up an arm and leg to get the exclusive DISH programming as well.

Years ago, Dish Network offered a pick-n-choose package of 10 channels (called Dish Pix) for $15. I don't remember whether FSW was among the channels eligible. That was even before the era of GolTV.
This is an ad from a Dish network vendor, but I don't know how old it is...

"Get 10 channels for $15 a month".
If it were available today, I would choose:
- ESPN Deportes
- FSC
- FS en Espanol
- NBATV
- ESPN
- ESPN2
- ESPN Classic
- TNT
- TBS
- WGN
Then I'll do away with my $45 monthly cable bill, only for 3 channels: ESPN, ESPN2 and TNT.
