I can't begin to say how horrific the production values of their broadcast of the pregame American Soccer show and their live game broadcast.

I dare say it is about a half step above cable access.

From stumbling bumbling Phil Schoen to mikes cutting out every ten seconds to the akward live pauses before a taped episode is shown, this show, while I'm glad there's something on tv about American Soccer, is a complete disaster to watch. It's downright embarrassing.

Can these people manage to get at least some details correct?

The Rochester Rhinos lost thier Open Cup final to Colorado, not the Dallas Burn, which they have been saying now for about a month. You'd figure someone doing their research would point this out.

How bout the graphic showing the general manager of DC Dallas?

How bout Phil Schoen giving out the starting lineup of the Galaxy and GolTV posting the FC Dallas lineup of players?

Again, I'm glad there is at least something on tv that show this game, but how on Earth can Phil, Ray and Lindsay feel good about the constant snafu's that plague their broadcasts?

Yes it was bad, no the production was very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, bad although they did a pre and post game show. It was fun to watch the Galaxy celebrate with their fans. Lets hope they do more open cup games with their very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, bad broadcast production next year.

Ray Hudson's "she's got a nice set of numbers ... well, she DOES!" line might have been the funniest of the year.

Other than that, it was a pretty awful production.

It would help if they had the crew produce some other Open Cup (or any other) games prior to the final to get some practice.

Jeez, what is it with GolTV and the gratuitous shots of women in the stands? I thought it was just on VW Gol, but to hear that they were doing it on this game...talk about unprofessional.

All Spanish stations do this.

All Spanish stations do this.

I know, but when it's during one of the league games on the weekend, it's not GolTV's crew doing the filming. I guess they're just being consistent.

Can us U.S. Soccer diehards cross the "I'm just happy it is televised" line?

Well if we can then here were some problems with the broadcast.
1. Replays while there is action on the field. - This always happens to an extent, but please cut the replays when the attacking team crosses midfield. I find this to be a particular problem with Gol Premium and Mexican Channels.

2. "Can you hear me now" - How many "Did that just go out over the air?" moments in the broadcast? Can you count them on one hand?

3. You'd think after you had ample time to get your stuff together due to microphone, when John Alper finally can be heard, don't slap a tagline on him that says "DC DALLAS General Manager"

I should add that I saw Phil, Ray, and Lindsey walking out behind me last night. Did any of them pick the Galaxy to win? I get the sense that Ray isn't the biggest fan, so I wanted to talk to him, but they all looked tired, and Lindsey looks pretty buff, and Phil...to be nice, I'll say that in his case, the camera really does add 15 pounds.

So exactly how many cameras were on him last night?

 Of all the minor, insignificant things to complain about, this is what bothered you??

So twice they allow poor JAlper to babble on without any sound while Lindsey Dean, with properly working mic, yet adding nothing to the conversation looks on. Hey, Lindsey....since you're not involved in this segment, how about trading headsets with the poor guy??!!!

I was at the game, so I didn't watch it. But it's just something that bothers me. Yeah, hot women and everything, but it just seems kind of tacky to me, and gross when Ray Hudson's ogling them. He and Rick Majerus can go talk about Ashely Judd or something if they'd like, but I'd rather see the soccer.

Judging by the number of empty seats at the Tool Box, GolTV could have avoided all the production problems by:

1. Keeping its on-air crew in Miami

2. Not bothering with a pre-game show

It should be obvious that not enough people actually cares about the US Open Cup Final to justify the additional expense GolTV incurred.

The BBC used to have a rule: if the stands are empty, then the event should NOT be televised. That rule obviously don't apply in this age of 500+ niche digital channels.

1. Keeping its on-air crew in MiamiAnd giving us yet more subpar commentary.

2. Not bothering with a pre-game show
Probably not a bad call, but if it was produced properly the pre-game could have added value to the experience.
It should be obvious that not enough people actually cares about the US Open Cup Final to justify the additional expense GolTV incurredMaybe they are trying to do something crazy, like, I dunno, create interest. Not many people gave a crap about the first Super Bowl either. If the TV folks would have used that kind of logic back in the early 60's they would have made a tremendous error.

The BBC used to have a rule: if the stands are empty, then the event should NOT be televised. That rule obviously don't apply in this age of 500+ niche digital channels. And we should all follow the BBC's example because they have NEVER made a bad broadcasting decision.

I could careless about the bloody match, but if you go by that logic, MLS games wouldn't be shown, because not only are a lot of games greatly empty, but the vast majority of yanks could careless if football is played here in the states. ANY exposure of American football is better then none. No?

joebloe (Oliver Tse) is living well with his reputation of talking out of his arse. Don't mind him.

Oliver also came into the Galaxy forum to let us know that the game shouldn't have been on TV as well.

What happened to his 'da cfo' username? Isn't it against the TOS to have multiple accounts?

I guess being banned under that name allowed him to come back with this one.
