They should incorporate a French word into their name... just to piss of all the MLS name monkeys (Europosers AND/OR Europhobes-Xenophobic Americans)... yet, figure out a cool linkage to the city - I don't know French or enough about Toronto to give an example... :D

Ok - Frenchies correct away... but here's the web allows an idiot like me to do:

Toronto Citadin
Toronto Athlétique
Cité-Jarden FC (or AC/AS in front... Garden City FC... Toronto isn't it known as the "City within a Park" or somehting like that?)

(stick AC/AS/FC in front/back of these...)

I'm sure I've effectively pissed off all camps of name-monkeys...

If MLSE is going to be involved in the team then I wouldnt mind having a Toronto Maple Leafs SC, using the vintage leaf or the TML as the logo. Toronto Blizzard would also be cool, they have/had a long history too. I dont agree with any French connection in the name.

Taranteau FC

(after the original spelling of the word - well the original Francofication (OK - I made that word up) spelling of a native American word)

(The word was originally thought to possibly a Huron word meaning "to be plenty"/"plenty of people"/"meeting place"... However, some 'experts' now consider it to come from the Mohawk word meaning for "Fish Trap" or "Weir"...)

Oh... and I forgot to add...

We (RSL) would trade you Mathis as a "Senior International" so what's left of his Mohawk could contribute to your Indian inspired Mohawk name.

But to get it right you need to add in an Americanization... THEN it's perfect! (i.e. No one is happy)

Real Toronto United Raptors FC

Yes... better... definitely better.

The first soldiers who founded the city of Toronto where the "Queen's Rangers" or simply the "Rangers"...

Or the name of York (which it bore for some time)...

Toronto Yorkies (you could have the immortal tag line "Not for Girls" and the Yorkie bar symbol on your badge).

Hopefully Joe Parolini will be reasonable when/if MLSE tries to purchase the rights to the name.

I believe Toronto University still uses "Varsity Blues" as a nickname (correct me if I'm amiss, BB the B). Otherwise, Blues would certainly rank worthy of consideration (along with my Toronto City FC, and BB the B's Blizzard).

If not Blizzard, how 'bout Toronto Skyliners ?

I liked the New York Skyliners moniker back in '67, but they failed to realize that a rather renowned drum & bugle corps of the same name in the Big Apple has been around since the 1940s... and still is going strong today. Since it probably won't be used there again, perhaps another city could appropriate Skyliners down the line for pro soccer. Toronto, St. Louis, Seattle (if Sounders won't fly), SF...
