Peter,
While I live in Green Bay, I'd be more than willing to meet up with you guys, as I've been so busy lately that I've missed the meetings in Milwaukee and I'd love to talk some soccer and more importantly a Milwaukee MLS team with you!! Let me know what you have planned!

Peter,
Someone had asked on another forum how MLS scouting works. Does every team have their own scouts or does the MLS provide international scouts?
Let's say I'm NY and I'm interested in a Chilean player ( Rubio of Catolica ). Who does the leg work to see if my team can get him and whether he'd fit well onto my team?
Thanks

For the most part each team individually handles their own scouting and recruiting using a network of friends, agents, former players, tapes, internet and travel.

Sorry - I haven't been back to check this for a few days -- let me check my schedule!
(If your meeting is downtown, Tom's would be a good place. If not, I can try to find somewhere else.)

they haven't given me the address yet, but it sounds like it's near or on College about a mile east of Hwy 41.
Your choice where you want to meet. Let me know and i'll get there between 5 and 5:30 pm.

I'm sure someone's already asked you this Peter, but surely you've got some pet ideas for what you would like a Milwaukee team to be called...
Any you'd be willing to share with us?

Good news! I can make it!
I called Tom's and sadly they don't open until 6:00 on Monday.
To make life easy, let's go somewhere on College Avenue. If you're coming up 41 all you need to do is get off at College Ave and drive into downtown. There's two places I can think of off the top of my head:
Deja Vu Martini Lounge - 519 W College
- Kind of a retro-loungy place, not sure if they have food.
The Bar - 427 W College
- Your typical sports bar place with pretty decent wings and other 'bar food'.
Pick either one and I'll see you there on Monday!

ultimate name will be subject to many variables including fan preference, location of the stadium and lead investor's desire.
i like the idea of calling the team Milwaukee Warriors, but it'll never happen unfortunately. If we would build at the Pabst Brewery site, i like Milwaukee Beer Barons. Our desire to be identified as a statewide team makes me want to instill Wisconsin as the initial monker, but this is unlikely unless we end up building outside the city limits.
i have a couple more, but can't really say right now. What name would you like?
Since most of the action lately on the Milwaukee Project has been non-public, behind the scenes stuff involving budget projections, site evaluation, land procurement negotiation and investor recruitment we haven't been able to keep these boards going.
Maybe a couple polls:
Name for the team could be one. Preferred head coach (based on 2008 start) could be another. Wisconsin players for MPS? Projected expansion draft players!?!? i dunno, just trying to add some life to these boards.

All I ask is that you market the team as being "Milwaukee's Best" :D
GO BEASTS!

I still think if you could convince the amateur club to sell the name, Milwaukee Bavarians FC would be classy.

And you could have a built-in youth system, right there.
Ok, I wouldn't presume to know if that would ever be possible, but man, that is what a professional soccer team should be.
I'm sure the folks over at Bavarians would have some other thoughts on the matter.

Ok, that got me thinking. Why wouldn't something like that work? A partnership between an MLS team and an established amateur club like Bavarians.
Sorry, Blackjack, this is not really even close to what you were talking about.
And I know people on this board have discussed youth systems, reserves and all that before, but why doesn't a youth system exist? For me its always made MLS seem kind of distant and cold, like my ex-girlfriends. Knowing that my kids(wherever they are) could play for a club team that actually fed its players into an A team, would make me all warm and fuzzy inside.
Peter whadya think?
