Sounds like Timmy is doing really well.

Tim & Co. into
the Semi-finals

Our recent goalkeeping acquisition Tim Krul (pictured), is on international duty with the Netherlands as they compete in the 11th World U17 Championship Finals, which are being staged in Peru.

Krul was made captain for their quarter-final clash with the USA and once again the Dutch prevailed with a 2-0 win, Jeffrey Sarpong scoring both goals in the latter stages of each half.

The USA lost defender Kevin Alston early on with a broken leg and were reduced to ten men in the second half when Neven Subotic received a second yellow.

Next up are Mexico in the semi-finals in Chiclayo on Thursday with Brazil facing Turkey in the other semi three hours later in Trujillo.

The Dutch youngsters had made the quarter-finals after they won by the two goal margin required, beating Gambia 2-0 in Lima on Friday.

The Oranje's opponents wasted a dramatic chance to secure a place in the last eight when a penalty was placed wide of Krul's goal.

Earlier in the tournament wor Tim had saved a penalty in their opening game and Krul was reported to have given an outstanding performance on Tuesday, as the Dutch lost 2-1 to a Brazil side who had to win to keep their hopes of a title defence alive.

In what sounded like a pulsating encounter, Krul was the busiest man on the field, making numerous good saves but being unable to prevent the Brazilians beating him twice.

The Dutch had begun their campaign last Saturday with a 5-3 success against Qatar in front of a crowd of 20,800 who had gathered at the Estadio Miguel Grau in the northern city of Piura.

In warm conditions more suited to their opponents, the Newcastle man was beaten from the penalty spot as Qatar levelled an early opening goal from the Dutch.

However Krul later came to his side's rescue when he saved a second half spot kick with the Dutch 4-2 ahead.

The tournament runs through to a final in Lima on October 2nd.

Arrggghhh! :(

I watched the second half of the USA game and young Tim was not bothered very much. I hope they kick the crap out of the Mexicants.
