My apologies in advance if this is in the wrong forum.

I feel dumb asking this question as you think a few well done Google searches would get me the answer...but where are the best places to buy soccer gear in/around the D.C. area? I know all the good shops back in Dallas, but I'm new to D.C. and don't even know what generic sports stores to go to, let alone what real soccer shops are around here. Can anybody help me out?

This is one place: http://soccersale.com/

Are you in VA, DC or MD? (as there are places all over)

I live in Silver Spring, MD, but I'm willing to travel a little for a good shop. Thanks.

I like how they plug Real Madrid jerseys with just one click off their front page, but the description of the jersey refers to it as "D.C. United."

I've gone to Soccer Kicks in Arlington and had good luck. It's a small store, but a good variety of gear and the staff seemed pretty knowledgeable. Went there a few weeks ago for turf shoes, and got there around 15 minutes before closing and figured I needed to hurry. But the staff not only brought out a few sizes of the shoe I wanted to check out, but also 4 or 5 other styles/brands in the same price range, and stayed after closing to make sure I got shoes I liked.

Haven't been to them, but I hear there's a great store out in Sterling, VA (which is a haul from SS), and a good one in Kensington, MD too. But I don't have names on those.

Good luck.

Personally for boots, just go to Ebay. I bought my mercurials for 100 even, brand new. Other than that order online from eurosport.com. I bought all my ******** from them growing. And if you want to just try stuff on, LOL to get a feel for siziing of what your buying hit up matt godeks soccer supply in merrifueld like the guy above me said.

Who here remembers Ol' TSI Soccer? LOL That was the place to work at back in the day for a high school kid! LOL

Just realized K's post was for the same place. Guess that counts under the "ringing-endorsement" department. :)

You should try "Soccer American" in Kensington. They're the oldest soccer store in Montgomery county and they carry club kits as well as generic kits for youth soccer, etc.

Dont bother calling sports authority or anything...the only chain sports store in the MoCo area that carries soccer stuff is Dick's Sporting Goods.

Yeah, I miss the TSI in Springfield and the Kappa shop in Potomac Mills. Got some nice Italy and Vasco de Gama stuff there for cheap years ago.

Don't remind me. I've still got gift certificates from that store that parents gave me for coaching their kids' rec teams and they're useless. :(

Given how mainstream sporting goods stores usually have bare shelves when it comes to soccer, I was surprised to see that the City Sports store on 19th St. between L and M had a bunch of DC United home jerseys for sale the other day (along with the playing equipment they usually carry).

There is also a Soccer American store in Columbia. They have always been really helpful and accomodating.

Rockville Soccer on Rte. 355 in Rockville has a good selection. And if you don't find what you are looking for there, they can order it for you.

Yeah, Champs sports also has a variety of jerseys and t-shirts. I was really suprised. DC United, U.S., Brazil, REal, America, Chivas, ManU, Arsenal, but also some random ones like Santos, Warder Bremen, and other smaller Mexican league teams. Not somewhere to go for buying soccer gear, but someplace to check out when your in a mall and your girlfriend is checking out shoes. Or at least thats how I found it.

His dad owns the store..... I go there on occassion, its a great little store, but kind of a stretch for someone who lives in Maryland.... As for a good soccer store I have to go with the person who said Eurosport or soccer.com. They have a great online selection... S/H is a bit pricy, but so are gas prices these days..... :)

Sterling Soccer 46950 Community Plaza Sterling,VA just off Route 7.
Perhaps that's the one LowEnd mentioned earlier.

This store looked like it was stocked. I didn't have time to go in because I had to go pick up a new digital camera at Ace Photo, two doors down.

If you live in Silver Spring, Soccer American is the place. It's in Kensington, above the beltway and one block west of Connecticut Ave. It's been in business for almost 30 years and has knowledgeable sales people.
