We will do this for every position until we get a united 11. I've gathered research and here are my candidates for the top 16 GK's in the world. I might receive some criticism for disincluding Toldo and Howard but to say Howard is top 10 is ludicrous since he hasn't achieved anything and on top of that he isn't starting. Toldo on the other hand hasn't been starting either this whole start of the season. I should've included Friedel but I didn't have enough room. Apologies. Jose Manuel Reina is good but I don't think he is at that level yet even if he did have one 'helluva season last year. Let's see if he can repeat in the Premiership. I saw the game against Birmingham this weekend and arguably both of the goals were his fault. The second one was definetely it for him.

imo he doesn't merit a place. What has he accomplished?

Each and every keeper here has a title except Robinson. Apologies but he's the England #1 which ain't that bad. If I was to go back I would maybe change Robinson to Given but to tell me that he is better than these 15.

What has Frey accomplished? What has Robinson accomplished?

He has won over 50 caps for Ireland and helped them to a World cup where they got to the 2nd Round.

He is in the top 3 keepers in the premiership.

He has kept Newcastle in the Premiership last season.

He has got to the Champions League 2nd Round with a crap squad.

And whats more he is better than 75% of the keepers on the list

Who did Frey win a title with?

He's not better than all of them but he is better than some and equal to more.

So vote for Given. The title is the best united 11, but it doesn't appear all that interesting to people so oh well. I don't know Given does have some blinders sometimes but then screws it up sometimes. I should've put ten on that list because Lehmann shouldn't be there either. From what I've seen from Given he's good but not great as my top 10 imo.

Like against Arsenal for example. He pretty much kept them in the game for the whole time and then let's in a goal from Van Persie which he should've blocked.

Given hasn't screwed up in over 2 seasons. How many keepers in a mid-table or championship side can claim that?

Excuse me, yes it's a cup. But has Given won the FA Cup?

LOL, you think that was screwing up?! It was a shot from an extreme angle that snuck in. 9 out of 10 times van Persie would have played it back across into the box. He was in perfect position to block that.

A cup isn't a title. A league is a title.

No but he's runner up twice.

OK so Given vs Casillas, Dida, Buffon, Kahn, Cech, Canizares, Toldo, van der Sar, Coupet, Hildenbrand, Frey. Which one would you pick Given over?

If Robinson is in the list, Given deserves a place. I presonally am biased, and therefore rate Robinson as very slightly better. I have no argument why though and can just as easily beleieve Given is the superior keeper. Given has consistently performed in the League and in Europe along with his International side.

King Robbo has been equally as good (better to me :D ) in the league and his few games in Europe was outstanding with Leeds. He's also cemented himself as the England No.1

Given has done it for slightly longer though so I can see Toon's consternation.

Frey is also a very good keeper.

I personally think it's between Buffon and VDS.

A lot of people dislike Frey. Why? I really am intrigued by that. He keeps teams in games such as the Inter vs Fiorentina game last weekend. Pretty much saved Parma with Gilardino.
