The best goalkeeper would have to be Iker. There isnt really one goalkeeper that stands above the rest. Everyone has their off days. Just please dont say Van Der Sar is the best because without his defense hes got nothing. Sure, he makes some good saves every once in a while, but anyone could get shutouts when you have the likes of Vidic and Ferdinand in front of you.
Van der Sar is the leader of the defense!!
Ajax mid nineties, the defense hardly got any goals against them, and the defense was with players like Frank de Boer, Blind, Bogarde, Reiziger, so not world class. He won the Champions League and World Cup with them.

He played at Fulham with a crap defense, and he convinced with his play that Manchester Utd wanted him. And he won the Champions League and World Cup with them.
The defenders always have an extra field player behind them, knowing that no top goalie can play better football than Edwin.

But Casillas, I have never seen him play with a crappy defense in front of him like Fulham.

Buffon is a different story, at Parma he played very well, and he still is playing very good.

The world cup?? when did Holland win a world cup?

and rio and vidic are the leaders of that defense. VDS plays very well behind them and limits his mistakes but imo rio and vidic are just solid.

Agreed! Now that he's on a better side its only a matter of time (if he can stay healthy) before the world knows what I've already known for years. He already has won one match for City.

Given > Casillas, Buffon.

Buffon can do anything Casillas can plus his positioning is far superior. It’s quite clear Buffon is more complete and thus the best keeper in the world. He’s basically the only keeper who very rarely has errors over years and years. You can argue Casillas has a better reflex indeed but Buffon’s is without doubt world class there too. He was fantastic indeed against Catania.

Plus you do not need better reflexes if you have superior positioning.

I must be said a big fluke win that was by Spain. Must have felt like that too I mean it was like what 90 years before your last win? Greece won it the years before says it all. Fluke and didn’t Iker make some nice blunder in the group stage.

A fluke? It was a deserved win all the way. Unlike Italy, who actually cheated the mighty powerhouse that is Australia just to progress.

Van der Sar, why isn't he on the list? :pBecause he wasn't signed by Man United. Once he signed there he automatically becaome world class. Before, he sucked. Now, world class.
