Buffon would still stop more shots at goal then Lehman and touretting tim if he had no arms or legs.

I honestly don't know how Casillas is a proffesional goalkeeper. He can't handle a ball, some of the stuff he gets away with is awful. It's not even as if he punches the ball, he slaps it.
Dida.

I think van der Sar is also one of the best keepers of the the world !

Why on earth would someone put Howard as one of the best in the world. That's like putting Adu as one of the best mid-fielders in the world.

Would I copy your posting to one of the American boards on BS....you were doomed. ;-)

Personally I think Oliver Kahn is the best over all. I have seen him make saves that should have defenalty gone in. Course he is pretty old now. He makes crazy bank too. He dwarfs alot of goalies in size. That doesn't make all the diffrence though. He ain't stuck up either just because he is one of the greats in football. In retrosept an individual player can't be great by himself.....their teamates play a big part in their success.

How can Timmy Howard be on this list? Where the hell are Kasey and Brad? What a joke.

Kameni needs to be mentioned. One of the best younger GKs in the world.

Shay Given in my opinion is very under rated, also as a west ham fan i was very, very sceptical of roy carrol when he joined us but i have to admire the way he is playing at the moment.
Bogdan Lobonts save a few years ago against AC Milan was special. Antti Niemi is very talented.
My top ten is:
1 Shay Given
2 Petr Cech
3 Oswaldo Sanchez
4 Dida
5 Timo Hildebrand
6 Paul Robinson
7 Jussi Jaaskelainen
8 Edwin Van der Sar
9 Gianluigi Buffon
10 Gregory Coupet
Most Over-Rated: Howard , Butt, James, Barthez
Most Under-Rated: Marshall, Taylor , Given

Why do you guys want Brad and Keller up? They are half decent goalkeepers but never the best in the world, especially Keller.

Anyone who puts a Mexican in their TOP TEN needs to be punched in the face. Hard. Three of my best friends are Mexican, and all three of them would admit in an instant that the level of Mexican goalkeepers is far below that of the Americans. And the fact is that Americans aren't even the best in the world, so how do names like Sanchez and Ochoa even come up in this conversation?
My vote goes to Kahn, even though I was in attendance to see him get owned by the USMNT in Jacksonville in '99. Flashback: I remember that Kirovski shot hit upper 90 like it was yesterday...

Kahn, right now, barely cracks the top ten keepers in the bund (several slots behind kkeller). Looked good in the cl, though.
The performance of Gomes in the last couple rounds of the CL earned him consideration, IMO. Those were the best gk performances of the year
Cech isn't really fair. You should look great behind that defense. I voted for him though because he's never wrong.
Friedel is every bit of Given or Robinson (and whoever said never best in the world is forgetting the 02-03 season, when he may well have been).
Buffon can be unbeatable, but he's seems to be losing focus.
And who's the Greek nat keeper. quite nice on his day.

You think a euro snob would make this list with Tim Howard on it? I suspect it's the other way around. Only an American would put our Timmy as an option. He did put the right answer up there, though.
Cech
an eurosnob WOULD put Howard. An American would have put Keller.

Someone who knows anything would have put neither.

It's good to have the best of each country.
Anyway, comparing goalkeeper is very subjective. They could be nothing without their defense like Zenga was.

what about guillermo ochoa? if he is not one of the best in the world,he should be considered one of the best young keepers. : america has still gone 26 games w/o a loss.
No No aguilas the boy has not had any internantional experience with the nt
so we can say he is international material only with his club he is good what happend when club America of Mexico played that club from Colombia it was a tie and if Ochoa was good he would not have let any balls hit the net! So in this case I say Jesus Corona by far that game against Boca juniors of Argentina when Corona played for Chivas that game that was pure class were Ochoa should take notes! :D

Igor Afinkeev.
Marcos should probably be on the list, maybe even Toldo despite his loss of playing time.
