I Hate his team with a passion but watching him play so well against Barca on Saturday i have to submit that right now Casillas is the best.

Well obviously Reina is not the best but Casillas sure is. Don't hate Teso, appreciate! :D

I disagree. Notably based on this season. I'm on record as stating:
1. Buffon
2. Casillas
<- big gap ->
3-5. Based on form

I will give you that considering Casillas has been in the worst of form of his career but what about the two season then?

1. Cech
2. Julio Cesar
<- big gap ->
3-5.When Buffon isn't injured, and rest based on form
6.Casillas

I've never seen someone more disconnected from reality. Cech might have been in contention for the top goalkeeper spot once but after the accident can not hold a candle to Casillas or Buffon.

You're right about that. Cech wouldn't be holding candles to those 2, he's busy save goals and keeping our goals conceded in the league to under 10 while Buffon is out and about getting foot surgery on his hand or vice versa and Casillas has let in more goals in this term than the combined age of Milan's entire squad.

Indeed.
I will give you that considering Casillas has been in the worst of form of his career but what about the two season then?
I would still rank Buffon higher, even taking Serie B into account.

Well that pretty much says everything. Casillas could make impossible saves 40 times a match and not concede a goal the entire season and you would still come up with some kind of rationalization of why he is second to Buffon.
I know when i see a futile argument and this is one of them so I'm letting it go. You are the Bill O'Reilly of this forum, hard facts and the obvious truth will never faze you.

Buffon is a better overall keeper, has been at the top for far longer and is more consistent. Casillas is a great shot stopper but I feel he is deficient in other areas such as positioning. Their respective styles of play have a lot to do with how their are perceived by fans. Casillas makes all of the camera saves and it helps him in regard to standing. Playing for such a high profile club also has an impact. I watch a lot of Frey and he is equally as important to Fiorentina and makes the same type of saves on a regular basis but he gets next to no praise for it. You need to ask yourself why that is the case.

he was pretty busy in euro 08 messing everything up for his country and losing to turkey because of him and his great goalkeeping skills. Cech needs a whole year of being consistent than you can talk about him being in the top 3 keepers in the world. his little run to the start of this year is not enough for me to put him as the best keeper in the world after his horrible euro.
when he's healthy(and he will be after the new year) than there's not a more consistent and complete keeper out therer than gigi buffon. casillas is not what he was last year but I still rate him right under buffon. After those 2 than cesar, reina, frey, vds and cech are right behind them.

One could argue that Casillas has been to Real Madrid what Messi has been to Barcelona (mainly in these last two seasons).

To a much lesser extent.
