In that case, wouldn't it be more like...Juve's defense > Inter's defense > Fiorentina's defense?
Buffon had to make fewer saves compared to the other keepers because, theoretically, Juventus' defense was better (they didn't allow as many shots that needed to be saved).
This is all theoretical and based on the season saves stats.
OPS. Sorry. :o Yeah you're right. Screwed up which way the arrows were facing. :S

Well then, how are you doing your assessment? Are you going by goals conceded, total saves, or just the way you view the keepers from your point of view? I'll tell you this, last season Buffon had 94 saves in 35 games in Serie A, Julio Cesar had 104 saves in 35 games, and Frey had 112 saves in 36 games. I guess in the end it's just an opinion.
All of the above.

Using all of the above:
Julio Cesar made 4 saves between goals concede while Frey made 3.027 and and Buffon with 2.473saves.
I determinded this using the overall saves made and number of goals conceded.

But it does raise suspicions of bias considering you support Juventus and the Italian National Team (both of which Buffon plays for). ;)

Just because someone has a different opinion than another person doesn't make them an idiot.

Opinion is a cop out. Notably when it is not based on reality.

It isn't a fact that Buffon is the best keeper in the world, it's an opinion.

I agree. He hasn't been as impressive as Casillas has been the past few seasons (for both club and country).

Wow, are you serious?
Even stats prove you wrong. So therefore, it's an opinion. Stats are facts, and thoughts are opinions.

Actually, you could argue that what Casillas has done at the highest level for the past 2 years or so, Buffon has been doing for more than 10. Did you know that he made his Serie A debut at 17 years of age? Again, I am an admirer of Casillas, but Buffon has never really gone out of form. He is in his prime to be honest.

Casillas made his La Liga debut at 18...and made 3 times as many appearances as Buffon did in his first season. In 6 full Serie A seasons with Juventus, Buffon has made 189 appearances (averaging 31.5 per season. In 8 full seasons with Real Madrid, Casillas has made 309 appearances (averaging 38.6 per season). The appearance stats obviously favor Casillas by quite a bit.
In the 2006/2007 La Liga season, Casillas was the single most important player in Real Madrid winning the title (and was probably the reason they did). He pretty much single-handedly won them countless games in which they should not have won and were outplayed in. He did this last season and has been doing it this season as well. This is not to say that he wasn't any good before 2006 though :D (sh!tty Galactico defense) He was also the best keeper at Euro 2008 and was one of Spain's most important and influential players there.
Buffon has had a better overall career and has been very consistent. However, Casillas hasn't even entered his prime yet and has plenty of time to add to his resume and stake in history.
Best overall: Buffon
Best right now: Casillas

In 8 full seasons with Real Madrid, Casillas has made 309 appearances (averaging 38.6 per season). So he's averaging more then a game per game? Very impressive.

No, he's playing more games per season than Buffon is
