Peter Cech hands down. Just because he plays for a hated club doesn't mean the man losses talent. Buffon had a tremendous World Cup and is now cooling off. Get with the program!
That is quite funny. He is nowhere near the best in the world. Have you even seen him play on the Euros? He also occasionally makes clear mistakes. Overall a Great keeper indeed, like he was when he played in France, yet even there he not up with the best in the league let alone in the world.

Your 'bandwagoner' hypocrisy lives on.

Wes Brown was at fault for the opening goal. He was not alert to the deflection and he was then flat footed.

Actually, Peter Cech might very well be the best GK in the world, just that none of us has ever seen him play.

Not true.

First of all, his name is spelt Petr not Peter.
Second, he has been playing for Chelsea since 2004 and for the Czech national team in major tournaments. A lot of people have seen him play. Especially the people on these forums that actually give a damn about soccer.

Iker Casillas is the best. Consistant performer for Real Madrid since he became first choice keeper, very rarely makes a mistake.

wes brown was not at fault, van der sarr flapped at it syupidly when brown wouldve defended it if he wasnt rushing out like a headless chicken

Van Der Sar misjudged the flight of the ball. He punched the ball at Brown from a distance of 1m, at the height of Brown's knee. This was plainly a goalkeeping howler. Van Der Sar was clearly at fault.

Lampard apparently has said that he has is 'gutted' to have recently seen J Cole score a deflected goal for England off 2 oppositon players and now seen Alonso score a deflected goal off 3 opposition players. He is putting in extra training in order to perfect a new 4 player riccochet move. ;)

I'm still unconvinced by Brown's actions and I have looked at the situation from both sides as I have played both positions. Brown knew there was a deflection and knew that Van der Sar was coming out. He stopped, then tried to track (block) the runner, then stalled and finally half tried to protect VDS. If Brown had simply stayed back the ball would have been punched clear, if Brown had simply tracked the runner the ball would have been punched clear and if Brown had simply protected VDS (but not by standing directly in his line and where the ball was obviously going to go) then the ball would have been punched clear. Instead he tried to do everything and ended up adopting an asinine position which resulted in the own goal. People are too quick to blame keepers these days.

VDS was alert to the deflection and came out quickly. From then on the only mistake he could make was missing the ball completely or fumbling it to an Arsenal player. He did neither. Brown on the other hand did make a crucial error.
