With the Nationals dropping of wild card contention Sunday, DC United doesn't have to share RFK anymore this season. Strangely enough I'm not as happy about this as i thought i would be. I do hope the field will now be put in good shape for the remaining games and the playoffs.

The Nats still have games next weekend to finish up the season.

I can't see the DCSEC putting anymore money into the field than necessary. They'll save $$ by not having to switch back and forth, but a permanent solution to the baseball infield at this point of the season sounds expensive and cost prohibative.

...especially when you consider that we only have two more regular season home games, and a maximum of three more in the post-season.

The Nationals play the Phillies at RFK on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Fixed your post.
One would hope that the grounds crew would do something to make the pitch more soccer friendly but with a maximum of 4 games left this year, I'm hard pressed to believe they're going to do anymore than they already have been doing this season.

With a little bit of skill and effort (I know, for DCSEC that's a stretch!), they should be able to at least tighten up the seams and make the infield more level with the rest of the playing surface. I hope DCU staff go after them for that.

Even if the Revs go down or we pass them and we end up hosting the Conference Final, only one of the two legs of the semis is at home. Without hosting the Cup, the most postseason home games you can have is two.

I was at the baseball game friday night, and I have to say that field looks worst now then ever, you can start seeing dirt in the outfield (not where the stands are but right field) and i have a feeling there gg to care less now that there beloved nationals arent playing, since well you know they hate us.

Can our banners touch the grass now without starting WW III? :D

As long as Rob doesn't touch the grass, I think we'll be ok :D

Yup, since our banners were touching the whole field at once, i remember Dema slipped on it, an the banner gave him a red!
Stupid groundskeeping at RFK. I could do a better job

Slightly off topic...
I'm not sure its a viable option and I honestly can't remember if it had been discussed before (and I'm feeling particularly lazy right now) but was field turf ever brought up as an option for the field. I know we as fans of the world's game, and the boreball folks probably don't like it much either (reminds them too much of astroturf) but in order to prevent the horrible conditions we've seen on the field all season, couldn't they invest a little money into this and ensure the safety of all the athletes that use the facility. Heck after the Nats and United have their own facilities with pristene grass, they can take the field turf and give it to some school or other facility before the blow RFK to bits. Just a thought.

Good Idea but field turf is a touchy subject it seems like with FIFA, but of course RFK is no longer FIFA compliant anyway, anything is better at this point, of course its better now then the beginning of the season
