February 28th, 2004! I was so excited when I found out because it was originally supposed to begin in May of 2004. But this is great! Also, the CONMEBOL wants to start their qualifiers earlier than planned (August of 2003?) and it will be officially decided on March 5th, 2003.

Reminder, the allocation of spots will also be decided in the next couple of days!

Qualifier or not I'd still love to be able to see it. Even if it's a terrible match between two countries that haven't a prayer for qualification I'd still like to see it.

i suppose this is what you get when you live in a country such as america that doesnt have a good domestic league that shows quality matches week in week out.

A bunch of people that find any excuse to get excited over what most people call a "fun distraction."

I've posted before saying that in England, club football is the real deal and the England team are just a sideshow. Football magazine When Saturday Comes revealed the results of their football survey this month. One stat, showing that the number of fans who regard themselves as very committed to the national team was unchanged, at a huge 22%.

Another thing i have noticed is that most hardcore england fans come from the parts of the country that dont have a decent club team.

You always see england flags with Hove Albion running through St George's Cross whenever England Are playing away.

I guess this is so they can Support a decent team about 8 times a year, But most people would rather their club won the premiership than ENgland win the world cup in my opinion.

Folks (esp. Mr. Magoo),

First, let's stay on topic here.

Second, let's leave the insults to the rivalry boards. If they continue here I'll delete them and/or move them to a more appropriate board.

Thanks,

Here's the spots everybody is fighting for. Automatic berth for Australia… at the expense of the two strongest groups, ugh!

Proving that if you cry long enough you get what you want.

Wow, this is huge! I'm not surprised really, but it is interesting now that it's official. Now Australia has joined Germany in the finals with OFC getting that full spot and it will be interesting to see that AFC-CONCACAF home-and-home series.

Hey, man! Never, EVER!, count out Vanuatu and American Somoa!

But seriously, I won't get really excited about 2006 qualies until we find out what USA's first fixture will be. Even if it is against Haiti or Dominican Republic, assuming those minnows can even make it that far....

Are we talking Iran, Iraq, or North Korea?

I'd much rather have seen South America get the spot to pit Honduras or Jamaica or T&T against Ecuador, Chile, or Paraguay.
