(Except for the outcome on the field)
I couldn't find it, but what did the players think of the experience of playing so far away? Did they enjoy it? Do they want to do it again? Do they think they learn something out of being in a Conmebol tournament?

I'd be careful with that one. I mean what was it like to let go a 3 goal lead with 60 minutes like? Good times or what?

If you want to ask Nowak (without getting your head bitten off), be my guest.

Matt's got it just about right.
We rode back from Estadio San Carlos de Apoquindo with the team on the bus, and it was like returning from a funeral.
That aside, the team seemed to enjoy themselves. They went about their pre-game warmups in a very businesslike manner, but seemed to appreciate the atmosphere in the stadium. (The FSC broadcast did not begin to convey the atmosphere. At points in the second half the entire stadium, literally every single person, was chanting in unison. Very, very exciting.) At one point in the second half, riot police had to protect Gomez on a corner kick from flying debris from the stands. Abuse in the Swamp or Chicago has got to pale in comparison with that.
My guess is that the team would give anything to play in the tournament again, especially Nicky. They proved to themselves that they could play with UC on their home ground and would be much, much less nervous in a repeat encounter. Let's hope they get their chance.

I too felt odd that there was little coverage in terms of when they got back there were no quotes... nothing. As a matter of fact it looked like from MLSnet on down they just wanted to hide this story as quickly as possible. So I understand they felt terrible and all but the lack of coverage of the player reaction is nothing short of invisible.

on TV you could see the guards sheilding the debris from gomez on the corner.. totally sweet.
