No, in the case they defeat NED they have to play CR, so we will elimnate you.

no. They will of course be eliminated after getting their hopes up as always. Might take a dubious penalty to knock them out, but you can count on it.

I had forgotten that* :o , I thought you were referencing the Mexico home qualifier back in March.

I haven't followed the youth teams regularly....so far just in the WYC's.

*(I remember seeing an article about that recent USA-Mexico U-17 match, but had forgotten about it when I posted.)

As long as we're not playing in Guadalajara we should be alright.

It's tonight I think and you're playing Holland. I don't know what the American youngsters are like but I do know that the Dutch boys are skilled and look great going forward. They also unfortunately look puny and small compared to most other under 17 sides (Dutch football academies don't pay any attention to building up the muscles), and they're rather rubbish at defending.

I agree... I watched their game against China and I just want to tell all of them are very technical, physical, fast and calm. Tooo calm so that they look like they do not care much about the opponent and just wanna play their fottball (watch the defender's mistake before conceding the goal)... :)

I would love for the USA to win a FIFA world championship but unfortunately I don't think it will happen. They're always saying "this might be their year...." or "this team is the US's best chance", etc, etc. but we always seem to screw up in the end. Tonights game against Holland might be it but if we win tonight, I reckon we have a good chance of making it to the final.

If it's not us than I'll be rooting for anyone but Brazil. No offence to Brazil but they just win too much. It would be nice to have a change - a different team win it. A turkey- Brazil semifinal would be a mouth watering spectacle of football I reckon. If the US wins tonight, than I think we have as good a shot as anyone at winning it but if we don't than I would like to see a Mexico- Turkey final. Basically, any of the teams left in the tournament, I would like to see win except for Brazil. Sorry Brazilians, but that's the price you pay for too much success. :o

after Brazil's convincing 6-0 I'm inclined to say they just might maintain the cup home.... .. lets see how the americans perform agains Holland today...

I think the kids have the same desease with their senior team, unable to take advantage of freekick around the penalty area. I saw today about 7 in the first half, came up empty.

Can I take a bow? Netherlands sounds outplayed yet scored a second in the 88th minute. US out in the first knockout stage is usually a very safe bet. I'm sticking with it in 2006. Me, bitter? Never. Still, things are improving and that should pay off someday. Sigh. Here's hoping they hold heads high, anyway.
