Nice thread! I was just going to post the Lobo Guará, a beautiful animal from my State, when saw that you had the same idea before me! :)
How common or rare is it there? It's one of the simbol animals of the endangered Brazilian wildlife.

Did you ever hear about the city of Guarapuava, in the middle of the State? Lobo-guará was common in that region in the past. Now the animal is in the Livro Vermelho da Fauna Ameaçada no Paraná (http://celepar7.pr.gov.br/livrovermelho/index.asp?idgrupo=9&index=ger). But there is a growing conscience of the importance and beauty of this species.

This look more like an ostrich....is this the Brazilian version of the great bird itself? Here in Africa(BOTSWANA) we have plenty of Ostriches.
