Let's say the ball is in play and you chip the ball to your teammate, about stomach-level. He holds out his shirt like a parachute and bounces it over the onrushing defender's head and goes around him. What's the call?

I'm not a referee but I'm gonna guess unsporting behavior.

After I stop laughing, the call is handling (and maybe USB). By holding the shirt out it becomes an extension of your arms. Same as taking a whack at it with a shoe or shinguard.

Agreed, both on the laughing part, and on the call. The Advice says:


"12.9 DELIBERATE HANDLING. (snip)...A player infringes the Law regarding handling the ball even if direct contact is avoided by holding something in the hand (clothing, shinguard, etc.)."

And you thought that the Advice authors hadn't though of this one...:)
