doves = different than coldplay.

similiarities = they are from the same continent, both play a form of brit pop.

other than that, different. like nuprin.....

The few songs I heard sounded very similar to me, though I haven't heard alot of either one. Stop telling what to do!! :D

In regards to the incredible CCTX music scene, Rita postponed the Chevelle show that I couldn't go to originally, so hopefully it will be rescheduled for some time that I have free!

I know you aren't the avg dumb music listener, Cam. The doves don't even have a keyboard/piano player ;) and are more rock oriented as opposed to pop arrangements.

Logging off early today, kiddies. Going to clean up the office and get my things together for the business trip before sneaking out a tad early. Given the direction of the music discussion here I'll have to stick with what really matters: Rush & Pink Floyd.

Till monday then, chaps. Support your local college team, keep the Braves healthy and, of course, Up the Gunners!

I guess it was more along the lines of similar harmonies and the singers' voices.

Cam, if you check out anything by Doves, listen to "The Last Broadcast." That album is brilliant.

Oh, and GG, I just got an email from Electric Factory Concerts that the "Australian Pink Floyd Show" is coming to Philly. Email says they play all of DSOTM. I wonder how much tix will be...

Will do.

And what is this "Australian Pink Floyd Show"? Too bad the originals don't get together again and tour. I loved the show at Rice Stadium in Houston for their last tour. Great stuff!

I've seen them advertised in the back of Mojo and Q, but I don't recall them ever being in the States before.

Here's their website: http://www.aussiefloyd.com/

As for the real thing, I wish I had seen them when I had the chance. I missed the tour in 94. Don't really remember why. I hope it was a good reason, although it mustn't have been that good if I can't remember. :D

To be honest, all 3 are good albums. "last broadcast" and "some cities" are lean more to pop rock than the original (and best IMO) "lost souls" - that one is more experimental, less constrained than the latter two. 'Cedar Room' is by far my favorite song of theirs....

I have the last two. I've been meaning to get Lost Souls for some time, but just never got around to it.

Yeah, I've been moving documentation into a new repository, and my head felt like it was going to melt - and not in a good way. Left around 5, and got home to find a slip from the post office in the mail. Guess whose new red currant shirt is here!!!!
