View Full Version : Representitive Assembly (Momentous Day in Rapids History)

For the past two months, essentially since the vote on "The Drink" back in May there has been a whole lot of talking and very little doing. Petty disputes and mass bewilderment have delayed any development. Now finally, the perfect opportunity has presented itself with the upcoming home game against RSL on OCT 1st (Saturday).
As you all know, GoRapids and I have tried unsuccessfully to come to terms with the throng of supporters who have attached on to this. Unfortunately, discussions on BS are trivial in getting anything accomplished.
So I propose we have a Tailgate in Lot C to kickoff the Supporter Movement in the proper way, with food, drinks and music. The flow of ideas will move much more rapidly and also give people who read BS but cant post a chance to proclaim their opinions as well. The usual food and drink will be needed: hotdogs, hamburgers, chips, strippers(wink, wink, ok maybe not) soda pop and an RSL piñata. We all need to push together, both Class II :D and Sec 127 if we are to create this faction, so please let me know via email or BS mess what you are planning on bringing.
This is our “Continental Congress”, our time to guide this where we, the Supporters, aspire it to go. Let not your voice go unheeded, come, bear your name tag proudly and rally round your comrades!

Three questions:
1. What time?
2. If I make a pinata, where can we hang it from?
3. Male strippers?

This is semi-related but important:
I think we all realize that a successful supporters club is not possible without the FO to lend a helping hand. I sent an email to the Rapids, specifically the "Q&A with the GM" thing. Here is the question I asked.
Charlie Wright,
There has been a lot of talk among the fans about trying to create a formal supporters club, since there isn't anything really organized right now. I was wondering what the Rapids' plans are in that regard, particularly with the new stadium on the horizon. Will the front office encourage the creation and growth of a supporters club?
Thank You,
Patrick QuinnA few days later I received this email (Most likely not from the GM).
Patrick
Thank you for your interest. We are definitely very interested in trying to organize a supporters club and will support that club in every way that we can. I am asking Kieran Cain, by copying him on this email, to keep your contact information handy and we will contact you when we have an organizational meeting for the club. We would like it to be active before the move to Commerce City!Just some food for thought.

I just got off the phone with the all and mighty FO and got their OK for our Assembly to meet in Lot C. They have put aside 4 spaces for us, that we can fill with a e-z up tent, grill and piñata. So, we got tht land, we got our ideals, we just need the people.
Who's coming with me??
Eh, eh, Who's coming??

The Tailgate, I'm thinking, should start about 5pm. We can find something to hang the RSL piñata from, and if not we can just put in on the ground and beat it ;) . As far as male stippers go, sure if u want them there just make sure there is a "fe" before the male.

I'll be there ... it's be good if Class VI people could make it over too.
Also, the Loyalists will be showing up for some tailgating.
I will have some C10 commitments ... so I may be having to leave a bit early - but I could bring the cup over for some refreshments too :)

The FO have stated numerous, that means a many, times that this is to be created by the Fans for the Fans and to be run by, guess who, the fans. They will help with what the can control, i.e tickets, merchanise, viewing parties but everything else is our responsibility. So get ready to buckle down...

At this point we need the following items:
A.) E-Z Up tent
B.) 2 grills
C.) Generator
D.) Piñata
E.) Food and drinks
Other then that we have everything we need. Chili, can I count you for the Piñata. Bilfish-Greenie, looking your way for those grills. Capone think you could muster up some hotdogs and convince Rapid-St.Pauli to bring in the Hamburger Patties. Ringshot any chance that you could scoop up some Chips, I'm thinking like 4 bags or so. GoRapids, is it possible for you to pack up some paper plates and plastic cups for this gathering. Slim7, I know you will be absent and your presence will be missed (always fun giving out the crap to Celtic fans) but can you see if Will or Victor can bring Soda, like four 2 liters outta do. Uhhhhh, lets see what else, that about sums it up. Aksum, GreatZar, Quinn33, ChungsLeftBoot, and whomever else you are more then welcome to come by. Actually, your presence is required so.....

P.S If you cant bring anything or want to bring something else just let me know and will work it out. It seems that I am not bringing anything I know, but I am working on getting the tent, generator and music for this.

I will bring a piñata and a blindfold, but I don't have a stick to hit the piñata with. Unless you think a fencing foil would work. What do we need a generator for exactly?

Keiran Cain is a good guy. He has worked with the Ratz in the past. I'm trying to shift a previous engagment for Saturday (to earlier on Saturday) so I can attend this.

Illbeats,
Got you pm. I would love to be there, but family is coming to town and I will be stuck at the Adams County Fair grounds looking at jackasses, jennys and other pygmy (sp?) mules all day long. Not to mention I get to run around town to various antique shops to play purchaser for a family owned museum in New Mexico.
If by chance I get to get away early I will make every effort to stop by though.
I will send you an email on Sunday to see what went down, and what the next step is.

I will be there. Don't have to work during the day on Saturday. :D
I think this will be a great opportunity for people to get a little more on the same page. I think we're all trying to get at relatively the same thing.
Plus, a little food, beer, and convo never hurt anyone. :D
