Can anyone give me insight to why the games are being broadcast in Spanish, with no opton to listen in English?

THe last thing I want to do is come across racist, as I am not, but I paid $$ for this service, and really dont see that it is right that they do this.

I shouldnt have to learn Spanish to watch to American teams in an American league.
I have nothing against Telemundo or Galavision, but I am paying $$ for it, it isn't right.

HAs this been going on for all Dallas/LA games?

Yes, I know, there are bigger fish to fry, but I just wanted a little insight

When the local broadcast is in English, the Direct Kick broadcast is in English.

When the local broadcast is in Spanish, the Direct Kick broadcast is in Spanish.

This has been happening for two, maybe three years.

Look at it this way, if the local Spanish-language stations didn't spend the dinero to broadcast the games, you wouldn't be watching them in English or Spanish. I thank God the LA Telemundo channel cares so much about the league.

Moved to TV, Satellite and Radio.

That is a good point. I figured they could show it from the local or away team broadcast station. Guess not.

ie. LA's local sports network broadcasting an away game.

You seem to assume there was more than one station broadcasting the game. I don't think that was the case.

I always thought that was the case unless the game was being covered by ESPN2 or FSC. GUess not

Knowing that, it makes more sense...

Did this happen only for this one match last night? I watched San Jose - Chicago, and glimpses of Colorado - Salt Lake, and both of them were in English. I didn't bother checking Dallas - Galaxy, and didn't even realize they would have a non-English telecast. But if it was in Espan~ol, it might have been a one-off.

They did the Saturday game vs. KC as well. In the past, I have heard Spanish broadcasts from LA and Colorado. Can't recall any others.

MetroStars do some Spanish broadcasts (the other games have it via SAP), but every game they broadcast in Spanish they also broadcast in English so it never shows up on Direct Kick.

Even San Jose has had few Spanish broadcasts from the local Telemundo affiliate (vs. Chivas USA and I think Galaxy as well). But I don't believe any of these made to Direct Kick, as there were corresponding English telecasts for the same matches as well.

I think this is why I waas confused earlier. I just figured all teams did this.

No.

Not every game is televised by both teams involved. I'd guess maybe about half are (unless they involve Kansas City, of course). Maybe slightly less.

But occasionally an MLS game will be televised only in Spanish, and that's DK's only option. And you then have two options - you can watch the game and endure a language that's not yours but which it won't kill you to hear, or you can just not watch the game and ask MLS for your $0.69 back or whatever it works out to that you pay for each game.

In years past, there were a few games that LA broadcast on their Telemundo affiliate.

However, Direct Kick always picked up a radio broadcast of the game and used that as their audio. Sometimes, they wouldn't have it set up until the 5th minute or whatever, but they still had it.

Not always. I've watched Galaxy Direct Kick games in Spanish before.
