You just don't see it anymore. There used to be a official signal for it when making the call.

Any body remember what the official signal for it was I can't remember it?

The NFHS (High School), signal for jumping-in is a fist going upward, with the elbow bent at 90 degrees. Still used and required in HS ball in the US.

Now...I may be mistaken, but this sounds like it might be considered an obscene gesture in many countries...

Jeff, The NFHS signal does not use the "other" hand or arm at all, so it does not look like the widely recognized offensive signal.

I was told that the HS signal is called "pulling the train whistle".

Local practice (from my experience in the middle and watching others) is that these beloved signals are slipping into disuse.....oh dear.....we'll probably get a big reminder about that at some point but this season we were told to focus on equipment, sporting behaviour and proximity of benches to the field, all of which seem more important than flapping your arms around giving signals hardly anyone understands anyway.
It's bad enough having to deal with the compromised field positioning required by the dual system without having to look like some refugee from pointy-ball.
The one I hated the most was the signal for offside.

I never once witnessed the signals being used in Arkansas.

Just curious. Does anyone use ALL of the HS signals?

I do, of course I'm pretty new at all this so maybe that has something to do with it. I actually like to use both the hand signals and verbal statements. It helps everyone learn the signals but also makes it clear what the call is.
