The previous thread I posted on this has been deleted, so I'd like to bring it up again.
I will be in Cosa Rica from the 21st to the 31st of January, and I would like to attend a soccer match. I understand that most matches are on Sundays. I will not be in the San Jose area during that time. I am visiting Manuel Antonio and the Osa Peninsula.
Some very helpful ticos told me that there is indeed a first division club in Osa. Does anyone know specifically what city or town it is in? I understand that Osa is a very undeveloped area, and it may be difficult to get around from town to town when I'm there, so if I can bstay close to where the match is, I'd like to do that.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

The Costa Rican 1st division is on Christmas recess (except for 2 make-up games) until January 12th. Osa, which is in last place and likely to descend, plays in Ciudad Cortes if I'm not mistaken. People are very friendly here and if you are interested in attending practices or whatever ask someone at the club. Try getting to a Saprissa or Alajuela is possible. Even if it's an away match it will have a better atmosphere than other matches. Depending on where you're at, travel on the Osa can be a little tough but as a general rule public transportation is pretty good because for many people it's the only way to get around.

As stated before Santos plays at Ciudad Cortes.
Lucky you. Saprissa plays at Osa on the 26th of January!

Sweet! I am looking to see if I can get to the game. I am staying at a place in Drake bay, which is only accessible by boat, so it may be a ferry ride then a long, and expensive, taxi ride to Ciudad Cortes.
Still, if it is at all feasible, I'm going to try to make this game.
Thanks to everyone for being so helpful! And if anyone has any tips on how to get around, etc, please post them or PM me. If any Ticos will be in that area or travelling to that game, get in touch!

Ouch! I've been told I will have to indeed reserve a ferry (and basically have the boat wait for us all day) and take a long (30 km) taxi ride to get to Ciudad Cortes. I've also been told that would run me about $300.00 total!
Well, if anyone happens to be living in that area, and wants to give me a lift, dinner and drinks are on me!
Now if you happen to have a boat as well....
