I see other people commenting on their round 2 opponents in the cup round 1 thread and I figured we might as well start a proper thread for it.
I have a home match against Roaring Thunder who finished 3rd in V.51 last season. Looking at his recent matches he puts up hatstats in the 150-160 range and likes to play a 4-4-2 or 5-4-1 with 3 IMs. His defence ratings are strong but I beat him in the midfield and his attack ratings are laughable. Hopefully I'll able to pull out a win using my starters at home but it'll be close.

i play Guns of Brixton FC at their place. they pulled a 98 in their last match and are not well tended to. i should pull out a win but i'll need 2 or 3 starters.

wierd things happen in the cup...I think the only weird thing that's going to happen is I'm going to find out just how large numbers can get. Their hatstats double mine.
I'm wondering if I should PIC so I can get a boost for the next league game even though it will be a pretty massive hit in supporter and sponsor mood.

I play The Goose Turkeys from the same series as Helghallen's first round opponent. Guy pulls between 70-115 hatstats, probably not a PIC victory, but a victory coming anyways.

Ah well. Today's not a good day for me -- lousy cup draw and didn't sell my winger. Going to have to keep my winger and play him as a forward during friendlies. Hopefully I can get his scoring from wretched to passable or solid by the time he's 20 so I can at least have a good scoring winger on my team.

dude, just put the winger up for free. maybe $750k was too much much to start it out at but you are sitting on a gold mine and training someone from wretched to solid is (i'm sorry but i'm going to do this very bluntly) very stupid. put him up for $400,000 and if he sells for that, you can buy at least 2 or 3 solid fowards

SC Bearkat - Riverside Dynamo
A Home game and a beatable opponent who, like Dave's opponent, doesn't pay much attention to his team lately. He hasn't made a significant purchase to upgrade his team in 2 seasons (2/05). He averaged about 108 in hatstats last season while finishing #6 in his DV series. He's been playing a 4-3-3 lately with low MF ratings, so I don't see this being a problem. Just have to stop the few central chances he may get.
As I stated in the Round 1 thread, I really like my chances of advancing to round 3.

older excellent wingers are cheap. there's one up now for $80,000 that will end in an hour.
you're training scoring right? do you have all of your trainees? it doesn't make sense to keep a 17 year old excellent winger that's pulled in the first week. you pretty much won the lottery with that 17 YO excellent and now you're taking the ticket and just carrying it around till its not worth anything

Yet, it isn't selling.
Another guy is selling a 17 yo excellent winger and is only getting $87.5k for it so far.

And when if he gets trained up high enough to make the U-20's and beyond, he will keep paying off for each transfer he goes through.
