Letter I wrote to Fox Soccer Channel:
Dear Fox Soccer Channel,
Misery! I just completed my Fox Soccer Channel survey recently and hoped for the best. However, things have recently changed for the worse. Since you've become Fox Soccer Channel, you've actually stopped showing soccer !
This reminds me of when MTV stopped showing videos and went to a total 100% 30 min content shows exploiting the captive audience. They figured out if they show videos they don't make money, if they show tv shows, they sell commercial time, and make money.
But wait, don't I pay extra for Fox Soccer Channel? Am I paying twice? Once on my bill and again by watching TV commercials?
All I ask is that each day at either the 8pm or 11pm time slot, you show a good top-tier soccer game. Either EPL, La Liga, Bundes, Dutch, Champions League, MLS, or anything good and uninterupted.
Instead what do you have? This STUPID kiddie show Fox Soccer USA, a badly edited (high school interns?) Argentinian highlights shows (which all soccer fans hate because you never see the play build up - much like watching portions of a 90 min movie - worthless!) I think FSC is NOT showing soccer games between 8pm and midnight because it allows more opportunities for tv commercials. Again, exploiting the soccer audience, not catering to it.
Please, Fox Soccer Channel, show a game at either 8pm or 11pm EVERY DAY and remove all kiddie shows and prime time garbage.

p.s. The alternative is to get TIVO or DVD-R, which is an additional expense each month on top of the $60 I already pay for cable and the "Sports Package". Do I spend $75/mo & $900/year to watch a game each night? Perhaps it's my only choice.

man, get with the times and pickup a tivo! mine routinely has 6 to 10 games to choose from in the last 7 days alone. then you can skip commercials too if they are on, and watch the games on your own schedule.

What are you talking about FSW shows soccer almost every night as far as the review shows that is soccer and for a lot of us it’s a great way to catch up on what’s going on in leagues around the world.
Look at next week TV listings prime time not including a live Fox Sports World Report.
Monday
Arsenal v Everton
Tuesday
Live Fifa U17
Wednesday
Italian Soccer
Thursday
live DC United v Catolica
Friday
Live UConn v St. Johns
Saturday
Live MLS game in the afternoon
Sunday
Italian Soccer
Ok Fox Soccer USA is a show that does not meet your interest but to FSC its trying to reach a certain market (youth).

Or a VCR, I hear some people still have those, or a DVD recorder. You don't have any of those?
I'd rather them show the matches in the afternoon, since I'll record them then and watch as soon as I get home from work. I never watch the 8:00/11:00 replay unless I forget to set the DVR ahead of time.

And people wonder why I say many soccer fans are whiney bitches. The fact that this thread at all is proof enough for me.

the argentine highlights show is one of the most entertaining shows on FSC. There is plenty of buildup, and it also has a lot of 'local flavor'.
As for fox soccer USA... if you don't like it, change the channel.
and if you don't feel you are getting your money's worth, by all means stop paying for your cable.

Huh? THis doesnt make any sense at all.
Why you go about and complain to one of the best sources of soccer we have in this country in a tone like that is beyond me...

Why blame FSC? Blame EPL, La Liga, Bundesliga, Dutch league, CL for not scheduling their matches at 1:00a to 5:00a local time on weeknights. Until they do, your wish will go unfulfilled.

I don't believe he demands live coverage, Bocafan, he just would live replays or live soccer games during prime time. As far as I can tell most nights that is true. One night during the week is devoted to Fox Soccer USA and other short programs. So what? How about you go outside for an evening. Maybe spend some time with your family. Or get some exercise.

Unless there are weekday matches, FSC's weeknight prime time schedule now looks like this:
Mondays 8pm ET EPL re-air (of 3pm ET broadcast)
Mondays 11pm ET Serie A repeat (usually)
Tuesdays 8pm ET/11pm ET FOX Soccer USA
Tuesdays 8:30pm ET/11:30pm ET The World Football Show
Tuesdays 9pm ET/midnight ET German Highlights
Wednesdays 8pm ET/11pm ET Argentine Highlights
Wednesdays 9pm ET/midnight ET (repeat of 2 short programs)
Thursdays 8pm ET/11pm ET EPL Preview
Thursdays 8:30pm ET Milan Weekly
Thursdays 9pm ET Dream Team
Thursdays 11:30pm ET EPL Fanzone
Fridays 8pm ET USL (summer)/College (fall)/TBA (winter/spring)
Fridays 11pm ET FOX Football Friday (except summer)
Fridays midnight ET Dream Team (repeat)
So other than Monday nights, FSC prime time no longer have re-airs of European leagues.
That's the way it should be. Weeknight prime time should be used to air programming with plenty of advertising slots. The match re-airs can go in fringe time slots because they sell ZERO additional advertising.

I guess I consider the highlights shows to count, to some extent. Particularly because the original poster mentioned the Argie highlight show as one that he thought was subpar....insinuating that a well produced one would be satisfactory.

I think he demads live coverage. Since we're living in the post-VCR invention era, his post/letter wouldn't make any sense otherwise. Of course his reference to the Argie highlight show (which actually shows plenty of pre-goal buildup) might indicate that Beast is just off his rocker.

He specifically mentions his lack of recording ability....and he discusses English soccer in his post. There is no live English soccer in primetime....yet he wants to see it....obviously he doesn't mind tape delayed coverage.

I sort of agree with the original post. I guess I am sort of a crackhead for the EPL since I got FSC 3 or 4 years ago. I have gotten quite used to watching the EPL rebroadcasts (or debuts of the past weekends PPV's) at 8:00pm M-W. Mian TV? C'mon now, I'd rather watch DIY or Food Network.
All I want (besides the good that comes on Saturday) are a couple of rebroadcasts, and a better time slot for the EPL Week in Review show. Enough of this 6pm ET on Mondays. Sunday nights were great! I need it back to that slot following the Argie game.

I don't understand the problem. I recorded FIVE EPL matches this weekend and can watch them ANYTIME I want. Add the Italian, German and Argentinian matches and that's 12 hours of football. How is that being exploited? Who remembers when there was NO foreign soccer on US television?
Buy a damn Tivo or VCR and quit complaining. VCRs can be purchased for under $50.

Just when I had seen all sorts of idiocy, I read this thread, and it beats them all. Or is the guy who started this thread being overly sarcastic? I can't tell.
Get a life, will you? If your allowance money isn't enough to buy a VCR and few tapes, it doesn't justify us having to listen to your childish whining.
