The experiment of fielding full-back Stephen Carr wide on the right against Fulham did not pay off, and he may be left with little choice but to play Lee Bowyer, Amdy Faye, Charles N'Zogbia and Lee Clark at Ewood Park.

Given

Carr
Bramble
Boumsong
Taylor

Bowyer
Clark
Faye
Zoggy

Shearer
Owen

I don't know anything about Blackburn short of they have a fantastic keeper but I wouldn't start that midfield in MLS.

Nobby's eligible, because Villa play the day before, or something. Least that's what I read on SkySport's site.

Nobby rules himself out

We currently have 13 midfielders on the books at SJP with first team experience, but Graeme Souness goes into Sunday's game at Blackburn with virtually no choice in his selection for that position:

Butt Loaned out
Dyer Injured
Emre Injured
Luque Injured
Milner Loaned out
Parker Suspended
Solano Injured
Viana Loaned out

Leaving the following 5:

Bowyer
Brittain
Clark
Faye
N'Zogbia

Souness had spoken a few days ago about being optimistic of Solano appearing at Ewood, but the Peruvian ruled himself out of contention in some quotes that appeared in Thursday's Journal.
The curse is in effect

No midfield worth mentioning, no feeders for Owen and Al....

I think I'm being optimistic when I predict 1-0 to Blackburn.

Match Preview By Ally Campbell (16 September 2005)

Five games played, two points won, one goal scored. Unacceptable is the word that comes to mind, and another tricky match comes around at a time when everyone connected with the club is desperate for a win. A win should turn the corner.

Next week against Man City we should have Emre, Dyer and Solano back so to go into that game with a win under our belts will do us the world of good. Of course there is also the question of a certain Mr Bellamy this Sunday...

Last Saturday was very disappointing. We went into the game buoyed by the signing of Michael Owen and the place was buzzing, sadly in typical Toon fashion we flattered to decieve and were awful throughout. Partly due to the player's inadequeacy's and partly due to the tactical 'brain' that is in Souness' head.

Playing Taylor at right back to accomodate an unfit Bramble was puzzling, as was playing Carr on the right wing. To cap it all, Amdy Faye was playing as our creative central midfielder! The less we say about him the better.

We need to improve drastically if we're going to stand a chance against Blackburn on Sunday, and the pressure is well and truly on.

How about the irony of a starting central midfield of Clarkie and Bowyer. Both of them cost the club nothing but play with a passion. Unlike the loser Jenas who couldn't live in the goldfish bowl.

The Blackburn side can indirectly cause the man who abandoned them to be sacked, their striker can do one of the "biggest told you so" of the season and every NUFC midfielder is the gaffer's second or third choice and yet the concensus is this is the game were it all comes together and we will win 3-1. Very well I will go one better, we will win four - nil and Bellamy and Soundness will reconciliate after the final whistle.
