I tell you what, it's amazing to sit and watch the amount of poor luck that comes our way. Perhaps there is a bit of Karma involved from the soccer gods for who knows what. The only positive I can bring out of ANY of these injuries (Emre, Luque, Dyer, etc.) is that some youngsters are going to get some Premiership action which will result ultimately in a deeper squad down the road. Either or we are in line for even more crap football as there is nobody worthy of servicing Lord Alan or Michael. Solano is obviously quality, but alone, I'm not sure he can single handedly pace a game. Your thoughts?

That's an optimistic viewpoint, one I share a bit. "Down the road" is the key phrase though. Scotty Parker and Nobby seem doomed to injury next match. I dare not mention anyone else.
Parker's suspended next match, correct? Unless he got an appeal.
But yeah, it's very hard to be optimistic these days. I really really really don't want to face relegation. It's early in the season, but if this epidemic persists...sigh. Basically, Newcastle is a cluster****. But they're still OUR cluster****. Haway the lads.

Every time Kieron Dyer has sex with two chicks at once, a player goes down for at least a month.
Karma is a bitch.

Imagine if we wo had gotten Rooney. What a joke that would've been. He probably would be approaching the record for red cards in one season by now.

What exactly did we do to get the curse? I mean, the Red Sox and Cubs at least did something to curse themselves..

What did they do?
We were loyal to the King in the civil war, the first christian city in england, we gave the world Sting, we invented the breach loading naval gun and the lightblub.

What... you just realized this? This is why we are NUFC fans, because the curse draws us. We accept our heartbreak, but have fresh hope every year and hope we end up like the Red Sox ;).

I always thought that we were more like the cubs in as much as like the cubs about half of our misfortune is unexplainable but the other half is self inflicted.
The general consensus is that sports curses occur due to some injustice a club commits contemporaneous with winning a championship. Since Jaypro mentioned the red sox I would point out that organization curse is attributed to the sale of Babe Ruth after the winning their fifth world series in 1918. The team did not win another championship until 2004. The cubs curse is attributed to an incident during the 1945 championship series when tavern-keeper, Sam Sianis-- angered over his ejection from a '45 Series game-- pronounced in his broken English: "Never agin will World Series be played in Wrigley Field." And as many of you know the cubs haven’t.
I, like most magpie fans were aware that the team last won a league title in 1927 (their other championships were in 1905, 1907, and 1909). What I did not know until I read the wonderful historical summary provided by our intreprid leader was that Mr. Frank Watt was the team’s first manager and served in that capacity from 1895 until 1932. Which means that Mr.Watt is the only manager for which the team has won a championship. (scary music begins to play softly in the background).
