FIFA has been handing out Player of the Year awards since 1991, but what about BEFORE 1991 (did they ever do a mock one later?). Here are a few years in which I think the winners would be. Fill in other years.
1981: Zico - Brazil (Flamengo): Led Flamengo to Brazilian Cup and World InterClub Champion in Tokyo.
1982: Paolo Rossi - Italy : Practically Single handedly won the WC for Italy .
1983: Falcao - Brazil (ROMA) Led ROMA to first title in 40 years and at the top of his game . The "8th King of Rome" he was known as.
1986: Maradona - Argentina Pretty obvious choice
