I've been training keeper for the past few seasons, but that will soon end. It's given me a lot of tactical flexibility, which has allowed me to hang in my series (V.208), but it hasn't allowed me to keep pace with the improvements in the other teams.

My team currently has, relative to the rest of the series, a pretty good defense (due to my keeper--my starting defenders are all solids), pretty good wingers (formids with PM and/or defending), a good mf (an outstanding, a brilliant, a formid, and some solid backups with head specialties), and a crappy attack (one quick outstanding forward, one young soild, and one experienced passable). I also have a few very good set pieces takers.

In my series, 2 teams train PM, 3 train scoring, 1 has been training general, and 1 doesn't really have any program.

So what should I train next? I have two alternatives that I'm deciding between (that I won't reveal here b/c of "spies"), but I want to get your feedback.

Should I train passing to fill a needed niche in the market?

Should I train set pieces b/c that's my stereotype in the series and I can buy 50 crappy players and sell the for ~500K?

Should I train defense to further strengthen my team's strength and get maximum profitability at teh expense of competitiveness this season?

Should I train PM, even though I already have acceptable IMs, to ensure I'm on the game engine's good side?

Should I train scoring to balance my squad even though a lot of teams seem to be switching to training forwards and the market may soon be glutted?

Should I train winger since it's quick, maintains my tactical flexibility, and wingers are being increasingly emphasized?

Should I train something else?

All feedback is appreciated, but will not necessarily be heeded.

Train shooting :D

And I wouldn't do passing, ask Koptie about that, he trained it for a while, said it wasn't worth it.

I'd train PM or wing if I were you... the wingers allow as you say tactical flexibility but the PM allows u the strongest team in the long run and the best chance of promoting.

Depending on how much money you've got there several things you can do.

1. Sell your IMs and purchase 17-18yo excellents w/ the spare cash you'll have purchase a kick@ss forward to boost your team's weakness.

2. Purchase 19-20yo outstanding IMs to train after selling off your current group... this will be expensive, but will allow for a strong midfield and team and massive profits in 2 seasons or less.

3. Train wingers... u get to keep your midfield and can still strengthen it by purchasing PM heavy winger trainees, although perhaps you could boost your attack by purchasing offensive wingers w/ good passing and scoring (im not sure if scoring will actually help w/ the new game engine changes though).

4. Whatever you do, don't train defenders.

Train scoring.

I used to train keepers, it was enough to get me to V and hang around, but at the middle of last season I had only 6 points and was in 7th place. I switched to scoring and bought all 17-18 yo trainees including 4 passable and 1 solid (and kept a 24 yo passable with divine set piece to make 6 trainees). All of my trainees had at least inad passing too.

I proceeded to win 4 of my next 5 games (to earn 12 points, twice as many as I had at the midway point, and 10 more points off those 5 teams than I got during the first part of the season) to move into 4th and then narrowly lost my last 2 games to end up in 5th... but both losses were by a single goal.

This season, with all my trainees up to solid now (and some on the verge of excellent) I expect to make a run at the title.

Also, I didn't sell my keeper if you were wondering. I trained him up to titanic and kept him. I also kept the backup, a solid guy, just incase.

*And before you ask, I got my money to buy the trainees by saving up from home games and selling all of my other forwards (about 3-4 of them).
