Pedretti shouldn't leave in Janurary. He needs to stay. If Frau leaves they need to find a new 4th striker and I dont know who they could get in that role who's better than him.

I didn't see the game, or even listen. Was there an own goal today?yes, AJA's second goal was on a long FK by chafni; coupet's attempt to box it out missed and tiago on the line was the last to hit it. the biggest fault was really greg's (his first real blunder of the season!), but tiago could have saved it too with a better intervention.

Exciting game. Lyon did not dominate as they should have but Ajacio did raise their level when it counted. Wiltord had a very good game and I was impressed by the youngster who replaced Fred.

Great brand of football on Sunday. It was great to see that FSC French game was a 3-2 thriller. We always need to win more converts to "le beautifull game."

You are talking about Karim Benzema who is only 17. He is probably one of the most( maybe the most) talented young forward that we have in France. Have a look on him. ;)

the metz match was at the same time as my son's basketball match (up by 4 with 3 minutes to play, they folded and lost by 9 :( ) so we only listened to the last part on the radio when the players were literally walking around the pitch. it's good to see who scored though: carew and wiltord beef up their stats, and malouda breaks his duck.
next stop, back to nantes. the canaries are hopping mad, and will certainly be pumped up to save their season and put a little dent in ours. 5 matches to lift a cup, c'est pas chèr!
but i'm sure there will be a special cup team. no juninho, certain. all three bens (benzema, ben arfa et ben pedretti) in the squad. monsoreau instead of cacapa? vercoutre between the sticks, for sure. this is the chance to spread around the glory. OL will celebrate their 5th title with 5 trophies.
OK i'll calm down now...

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to fishbiproduct again. and i really do owe you. these are the first videos to get through our bigbrother firewall, and i was happy to see them; i never watch téléfoot, don't have canal+ and in general, if it's not on TF1 i only follow OL on the web, on radio or from the VNS. i especially loved carew's goal. a good thing for him there's no radar at saint-symphorien!

for the first match of the league cup, 16 players will make the trip to nantes:
GK: Vercoutre, Hartock
D: Abidal, Berthod, Cacapa, Clerc, Diatta, Monsoreau
MF: Clément, Diarra, Govou, Malouda, Pedretti
S: Carew, Frau, Fred
Coupet, Cris, Juninho, Tiago and Wiltord stay in Lyon and practice this morning. Réveillère is in the infirmary for a slight tear to the right protractor muscle. Karim Benzema et Hatem Ben Arfa are with the U19 NT.

Nantes-OL 1-1 (4-3 .p.)
A lot to chew on with this league cup elimination. In the first 30 minutes OL looked exactly like what they were: a group of talented players who had never played a match together before. After that they started to combine and execute, but they had failed to dodge the bullet, and it was uphill after that. At 60 minutes carew and malouda came in and there were suddenly a lot more horses under the hood, but even before it hadn’t been too bad, in the case of some players it was even excellent.
Vercoutre was outstanding. With Coupet in goal nothing would have been any different. Completely blameless on Nantes’ goal.
Monsoreau showed all his ability; great play play both on the ground and in the air, as the last defender or going forward. At least a dozen big plays and only one foul.
Abidal, Berthod, Clerc, Diatta all had lackluster matches, but except for Diatta’s shortcoming on Diallo’s goal, they were adequate.
Pedretti even lacked the lackluster. And why didn’t he take the freekicks? Before Juninho, he had the reputation as the best spotkicker in L1. But does anybody know why he gets booed wherever he goes? Malouda, playing a different role entirely, turned out to be the motor Lyon needed to get the game back.
Diarra was in the unaccustomed roles of being captain and of playing in front of the other two midfielders. Malouda’s entry brought the situation back to normal. To defend both Djila and Pedretti, perhaps the problem was more one of organization than talent.
Clément held his own but nothing more.
Govou was great again. Another goal at the 90th minute from sheer desire. May have suffered a concussion at the start of extra time, he wandered around the pitch in a daze a couple of minutes, and his game, which had continually got more and more powerful through the second half, fell off after that.
Fred didn’t impress me except for his juninhesque FK. He could have offered the first goal of the match to a perfectly placed Frau, but always decided to go it alone and lost the ball. Did some falling down when staying up would have served the team better. And again, two costly offsides calls, one that cancelled the goal he scored (and Govou probably could have scored by himself) and another that stopped an excellent opportunity for Carew. The big guy gave him a talking to for that one!
Frau didn’t accomplish anything, but he worked hard and I think deserved better. The pairing with Fred didn’t work, but not necessarily through his fault. Houllier was anxious to see Fred and Carew work together; at halftime I was actually more curious to see Carew and Frau together.
Carew was another motor in OL’s awakening. One accelaration down the left loked like the start of a replay of his Metz goal.
Houllier is getting a reputation for making the right substitutions, but when you can bring in a Malouda or Carew, it’s easy! But I can’t fault his choice of starters. That team should have been up to the challenge. And now we really can regret not signing Toulalan. Even if he sat the bench, at least he wouldn’t have played for the canaries last night!
Further notes: Bré was very good. Let’s hope he gets more European matches.
Gravelaine and some other guy doing the commentary were pretty good too. You’d almost think they read BigSoccer! They brought up Diarra’s weight in Greece, The Brazilian flag display in Gerland’s Virage Nord, Fred’s possible first cap in the Seleçao, in brief, lots of stuff we’ve said here!

Not too upset about this elimination. The league cup should be for the lesser teams to try to win.

That blows. He needs to be incorporated more into the France side too.
